Am on weekly taxol and am halfway through. Toenauls disappearing or are rough and brittle and fingernails are moderareky strong but brittle and the white is increasing so may lose the nails. Any advice other than a vitamin A greasy cream?

Hi, deterioration in both finger and toe nails is not uncommon on Taxol. One method recommended is to wear dark nail varnish but this didn’t really do much for me so I tried Avoplex cuticle oil by OPI, it’s a light oil I massaged it into my cuticles and finger nails twice a day using a cotton bud and I used (and still use) lots of hand cream, my finger nails were and still are fine and I found the massage process really quite soothing too. My toe nails didn’t get this treatment and they are still odd in appearance and an odd shade of white, happily they can be disguised by socks and varnish 😂. Take care hope the taxol does it’s job, I found weekly taxol quite tolerable. Stay safe ❤️Xx Jane

Last year I had taxol . I bought some pure Shea butter melted a few spoons in a bowl over saucepan of boiling water . Let it cool then I added lavender and rosemary essential oil , let it cool . Massage into fingers every day . I still use every day , my nails never been so strong

It was a oncologist in London can’t remember his name he was using it for his patients

Best wishes Lesley

I bought some cuticle oil from the chemist- it says it contains vitamin E. I found this made quite a difference.

Evaux nail was recommended for nail damage but the company producing it has gone into liquidation. As it's a French company there may still be stocks available in chemists in France perhaps, but not here alas. I used to get it from a Dutch pharmacy. Worth having a look I would think. It's not worth buying the remover just the nail liquid itself. Otherwise, dark nail varnish has had success I understand.
