Hi ladies. I’ve been in chemo hell for the last couple of months. Carbo/Gem has been tough. I’ve not felt at all well since it started. Anyway, my CA 125 is still rising so my oncologist thinks it’s not working and is thinking of stopping it for my own good. She says that I still have options but will now not be eligible for a part inhibitor. Have any of you been in this position and where do I go from here? My first remission was nearly 5 years and I was hoping for at least another 5. So much I want to do!

Chemo not Working
Hi Gill. I haven’t yet been in your position but wanted to send virtual hugs and hope you find a treatment that’s more tolerable and works for you. Xx
I am sorry this regime has not worked for you, perhaps they will offer you a different type of chemo,of which there appears to be several. I wish you luck and hope that whatever comes next works for you again.
Take care,
Caleda x
Your oncologist says you have options so wait to hear what they are and then set your sights on the next 5 years. Good luck.
Hi Gill, I hope they can find you something that works. Has your oncologist given you any indication of what options they have? Big Virtual Hug. Kathy xx
Did your oncologist say why you are not eligible for a PARP?
She said that I wouldn’t fit the criteria if my 125 doesn’t come down considerably. It went from 700 to 900 to 1100 since I started chemo. Something about being platinum resistant? I’m sure she will explain fully on Monday x
Hope they find a treatment that works for you very soon.
I believe a few ladies on here are now platinum resistant so hopefully at least one of these will respond to your post & offer reassurance with any treatment they’ve had.
Take good care xxx
Carbogem didnt work for me either but taxol did. Once a wk for 3 wks tben a week off. Good luck
Hello. I am chemo resistant too and soon to start Cisplatin weekly. That maybe an option for you? I also tried Letrozole though it didn’t help for me. Let us know how you get on with your oncologist. Jane x
Not easy! The fight should continue. Platinum resistance patients are offered weekly Taxol.
I have been looking at trials for platinum resistance. I came across DICE, if it is of interest they are still recruiting. It combines Taxol and a random selection for those who will be on Taxol plus the new drug.
The only online info that I had found is within this link clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show...
if you scroll down the link, you have a contact and the UK locations
Same situation in June this year but I was on carbo/ Caylex then went on taxol 3 weeks on 1 week of which worked and was much easier to tolerate, that worked and I’m now on Letrozole with everything crossed 🤞 I’ve only had a 7 month break in almost 2 years, I was on chemo from Jan to Sept , so I’m hoping for a good break this time. I’m also resistant but Parps were mentioned as a maintenance option but she wanted to try Letrozole first.
Don’t panic (Easier sad than done) I’m sure they will find you a good option you just need to get CA125 down then go from there, it’s a long haul I know, but you will get there.
Thinking of you
Wishing you well

Hi Lockygill, I’m so sorry you’re going through such a rough time with the Carbo/ gem but hopefully the next lot of chemo will do it’s job and not make you feel so awful.
Wishing you all the best and sending love,
Denise xxxxx
I'm sorry your chemo isn't working. Carbo didn't work for me, & later Caelyx was discontinued after 3 infusions because the cancer was still growing. It's so discouraging & hard to face being told things are not working. But at least you still have options. Letrozol kept my cancer stable for 2 years (though I believe it's not suitable for everyone), but I had to stop in the summer as it was no longer working, & am trying another tablet now, have a scan next month to see if it's doing any good, got no idea whether it's working or not. I hope to keep trying whatever they can offer for me to try. Di
I became resistant to carboplatin last year and also am not eligible for the parp inhibitors. I’m currently getting Caelyx (intravenous chemo) as my ca125 went a bit wild. It’s scary when you think your options are limited but research is ongoing and the medical professionals are trialling new drugs all the time. Keep hopeful, your oncologist will do their very best for you. Sending big hugs xx
So sorry its not working for you wishing you luck with whatever is next xx
