Gnawing pain in stomach

It’s been a month since OC debulking and full hysterectomy. Most of the time I have such a painful gnawing pain in my stomach. Makes it hard to eat. I finished first chemo last week. Any ideas as to cause of pain? Sashay

Hi, I would suggest you get in touch with either your Macmillan nurse or your Oncologist.

It could be the the tissue following your op,but it really would be advisable to contact the above to be on the safe side. Caleda x

Thanks Caleda. I spoke with my oncologist’s nurse and she said to take ibuprofen. She said the pain may be related to my bowels not moving and told me to take Miralax daily. I’m in the states. I think Miralax is like Movicol or something similar.

Best wishes

The Miralax does work, same things happened with me. Also can be part of the healing process. They move a lot of things when they remove the reproductive organs, so it takes a while to heal. Hope you feel better soon.

Thank you very much. I may be rushing things. At least I was able to eat a bit more and have not lost weight since last week. My daughter has a Vietnamese friend who is married to a Cuban gentleman and her cooking is amazing. I’m so thank you for the food and your kindness in replying. Take care and best wishes.

I have added Miralax to my daily routine of Colace and Senikot. Also, Im cooked a huge pile of kale today and focusing on liquid consumption. If no progress, I will contact my doctor again.

Thanks and best wishes.

Exact thing happened to me. I was sure smthg was wrong so went back to surgeon and he assured me that it would just take time to heal and that the pain and cramping was because I'd just had MAJOR abdominal surgery!! It's true, lots of things are shifted around while they're in there so you have to give it time. My surgery was 7 months ago and it took a solid 5-6 for my abdomen to feel totally normal. Even now it pangs every once in a while.

Flower 🌹 you have saved my sanity! I keep reading four to six WEEKS to recover from full hysterectomy. I guess I did not allow for the six hour surgery which included debulking and a cut from public area to two inches below my breasts. The timeline you give makes so much more sense! I am wondering when you felt well enough to drive again. Last spring I replaced my old clunker and was enjoying the heck out of tooling around. Now I pay the car note and look longingly through the window at my car. Thanks for lifting my spirits.

Hugs to you

Sashay
