Discharge

I was diagnosed with Stage 3 OC in October 2017.

I had a recurrence September 2019. Two weeks ago my ÇA 125 was stable at 10 but this last week I am experiencing period like pains and this morning I noticed a discharge. I suspect it’s the cancer returning as it’s like my symptoms at first diagnosis but where does a discharge come from when I have no womb? I’m obviously really worried and spoke to an oncology nurse today who is going to talk to my doctor. Anyone else experienced this? Thank you for listening.

I also get discharge even though I have had the big op.. I asked my nurse if she could explain how things are working but after she consulted a surgeon and came back to me I'm none the wiser so have decided to accept that's the way it is. Try not to worry CA125 of 10 is really good and if the Hospital suspect anything they will sort you out. Take care. Sue xx

Thanks Sue, that’s reassuring but do you get those dragging period type pains too 😩

I had something like this - pelvic pain and vaginal discharge. A PET scan and other tests suggested that a small fistula (leak) between my bowel and my vagina had developed. It was very unpleasant. I had no idea that such a thing was possible. I was fortunate in that it closed up spontaneously after a few months. If it hadn't and had gotten worse, a specialist told me they could attempt a surgical resolution. I'm not saying you have the same thing, but definitely pursue an answer for these symptoms! All the best to you! Deb in Colorado

Thanks Deb. It actually seems better today and the pains have gone. I have no doubt they will return though as they are intermittent. My nephrostomy’s playing up now!!!!! Never a dull moment with OC!

I should have said, the problem I had wasn't the cancer recurring - it was because of the hysterectomy and how it rearranged my insides.

Hi there. I was diagnosed 3c in Nov 2011. I had all the usual bits removed at the start.

A few months back I too began to experience a discharge. I didn't mention it to my male onc as I was a bit embarrassed. Anyway, I had scans approaching. My scans showed new growths. My Ca125 went from 45 to 60 & consequently, I'm back on the chemo for 3rd line.

I'm sorry as I know this isn't what you want to hear but it by no means means that it's the same for you. I had no pains to accompany the discharge, as you describe. It probably occurred on average once a day, usually with exertion. There's a bit of a smell too. Your Ca125 is brilliant at 10. Try not to worry. Best wishes. Pauline.

Thanks Pauline. I hope the chemo sorts you out. This disease is so contrary!!

I've never had this symptom marking a recurrence but if you're not happy, seek reassurance. One phone could be all it means. Xxx

I’ve got blood tests Monday and phone oncology appointment Tuesday. 🤞🏻

Ahh glad it's getting sorted even if it's a quick phone call to reassure you. Xxx
