I HOPE YOU'RE FEELING BETTER. I THOUGHT LESIONS WERE THE BEGINNING OF SOLID TUMORS WHICH BEGIN ON THE SURFACE. I KNOW A NODULE CAN BE BENIGN OR MALIGNANT AND SO THEY WATCH FOR GROWTH OR STABILITY IN SIZE. PERHAPS THEY MEAN SOLID AS OPPOSED TO A TUMOR WHICH IS SOLID WITH A FLUID COMPONENT???
ARE YOU STILL GOING FOR CHEMO? HOW IS IT GOING? I HOPE WELL.
Although every trial has its own strict criteria, most usually when trial criteria refers to 'any solid tumour' it means not a blood cancer such as leukaemia or lymphoma. Ovarian cancer is a solid tumour cancer.
That is a good question Laura. I’ve had my cancer described as lesions, nodules and tumours but for some reason have never really questioned where they differ.
Hope this isn't a stupid reply, my assumption is all ovarian cancer has solid tumors, the other type are usually in blood cancers. If you research car t cell immunotherapy they talk about solid tumors there and have not had much success with solid tumors. That is my understanding but I know your much more informed than me. Anyway all the very best of luck with your research. Sue xx
Hi Gwen, it is a phase one trial for solid tumours called Patriot. I go to the UCLH Research Facility and the trial is under the Royal Marsden. It is run by Dr Martin Forster. The drug is an ATR inhibitor called AZD 6738.
I have PPC which I believe are in the form of tiny seeds of cancer scattered all over my peritoneum . I never had a large solid tumour which may have been easier to deal with . My cancer was inoperable so I had chemo only in 2011. I did respond well but it returned in my Peri aortic lymph nodes twice. I was reassured at my last app that although my lymph nodes are still swollen my pelvic area remains clear for now.
However my next app in Oncology is tomorrow week and I have been feeling increasingly unwell so I’m hoping my luck has not run out ! My bloods will be done tomorrow so I’m keeping my fingers crossed .
I’m sorry for going on about myself while answering your question Laura. I hope it is helpful
