Thank you Grace. Interesting reading. I have heard it mentioned before that the medical profession do now think that Ovarian cancer might be caused by auto immune, but that is the extent of my understanding.

Hello Grace,

Since my diagnosis in 2011, I have had the policy that asking questions doesn't cost me money nor commit me to anyone's point of view. Sometimes my scepticism has been justified and occasionally, I've been really pleased I asked the question. I've not yet spent any money on non-NHS treatments except for now with a lymphodema massage therapist for my left leg swelling, due to removal of all the lymphatics on my left side.

Often the process of making myself think through the precise questions is the really helpful bit for me, e.g. what precisely does the treatment involve, exactly what is included in this cost, at what point do 'extra costs' kick in, what range side effects can I expect to look for, what action do they recommend I take if I feel/experience this - or that?

Anything you find out from the GG Institute you can always run by the Ovacome free-phone helpline staff.

If you have the energy to do all this, it may well be worth it. If you don't have the energy, maybe your husband can write to them himself...and he can then ring the Ovacome helpline staff himself to check out their perspective.

Warm wishes and good luck if you contact GG Institute. You know we'd be interested to find out anything you discover.

Hmmm... personalised cancer vaccines... really??? My BS antenna are twitching but as others say, as long as it isn’t causing harm, costing you money or telling you to avoid traditional treatment...proceed with caution xx

I know there are personalized cancer vaccines but not sure they’ve been proven to work on ovarian cancer. A colleague of mine is having that in a trial for multiple myeloma. I believe these kinds of treatments are immensely expensive and the research isn’t necessarily complete yet. Good luck!!!!
