Does anyone have the same weird kind of ovarian cancer as me?

Hello, I'm new to this forum but I've heard great things ... I was told that my ovarian cancer was unusual because my original ovarian cyst had a malignant skin cancer growing on it ... does anyone else have the same experience?

That is a new one! In the 3.5 years I've been on this forum have not heard of that before. Hopefully, it will not complicate treatment. Keep us informed. Sending you a gentle hug.

Hi Tesla_7US,

Thanks for the hug ... I don't think it made much difference to the treatment - I had surgery as usual with Gemcitabine and Carboplatin ... they said that Gemcitabine was taylored for the skin cancer but I've since heard it's quite normal for Ovarian cancer as well. I'm "no evidence of disease" at the moment but have a new non malignant lump on my kidney and still having CT scans .... next one at Christmas assuming no symptoms before then ...

Hi,

Although not the same cancer as you, I have had two different cancers at the same time, and when I had my ovaries removed for Ovarian cancer, the Ovarian cancer was in one ovary and my original, non related cancer, was also in both. Thankfully the ovarian cancer did not return in 6 years and I have been discharged from that clinic and only have the one cancer (hopefully!) to deal with now. Hope your oncologists are looking into both cancers and that everything will be fine for you.

Hi, Thanks for getting back to me. Sounds like yours was an amazing coincidence ... one cancer at a time is enough generally so I hope all is going OK with the one you have now. Mine also spread to intestine so I have colorectal, kidney and gynea oncologists ... but nothing too bad happening at the moment ...Life is always interesting :-)
