Im curious about weekly Taxol and it's side effects, unfortunately this looks like the only treatment available to my special person now due to not getting much better, there was talk about the possibility of a hospice but she's very against the idea as our local hospice is rubbish and she's had bad family experience there as have I so it's completely understandable. I'm wondering how people who have had weekly Taxol have coped with it compared to 3 weekly and which you found easier to cope with. Xxx

My mom has dose dense taxol and every three week carbo for front line and tolerated it well. She was actually able to work full time during this chemo and just take a half day off work on Thursday for treatment. However, side effects do accumulate so on the last cycle of the drugs she had immense fatigue and took sick time on the Friday's after treatment!
Hoping everything goes well for your special person,
It’s very strong!! Also leaves you very achy and that achy feeling and neuropathy it causes can last for years. Think strongly about taking this chemo med
I'm currently on it as part of the CEBOC trial and due to have dose 13 tomorrow. I'd say it's loads more tolerable than 3 weekly Carbo Taxol. I still have a smattering of hair, my neuropathy hasn't worsened much. Muscle fatigue and chemo brain are my biggest problems.
I was running out of options and was set against more chemo but my specialist nurse persuaded me that the cancer was about to make me feel much more poorly than the treatment and I was already feeling rotten.
Gosh was she right, after one day my ascites began to reduce and after two I felt more comfortable. It was incredible how dramatic the improvement was and I'd only come off carbo Taxol 4 months earlier so was sceptical about weekly Taxol working. So thirteen weeks in, I'm nearly pain free and much more functional albeit very sluggishly. My ca125 at the last consultant review 3 weeks ago was still high but had dropped by 90%.
For me it's hard work being at Christies every week but I'm thrilled with the positive impact that weekly Taxol has had. My disease was getting very scary and out of control but does feel harnessed now even if it's for just a while. Definitely for me, it's worth the side effects.
I found weekly Taxol quite doable had a few breaks while I was on it as I got very tired but then was lucky enough to be put on Oliparib which of course is so much easier as it’s capsules Good luck hope Taxol gives some relief
Hi I had weekly taxol and going it very tolerable I carried on working throughout. However the latter part of the 18 week I did get more fatigued and had some neuropathy in my feet but that’s resolved well once the taxol finished x I used the cold cap so kept my hair x
Hi lovely, I had it weekly on the trial, I tolerated it really well, the side effects were minimal and it doesn’t take long for the infusion. Downside is having to attend clinic weekly but on the flip side weekly bloods and closer monitoring was reassuring. Big hugs and love to you both ❤️Xx Jane
We can do clinic on a weekly basis (chance to see eye candy 😋) so that's not a problem it's just how she's gonna cope with it but at the same time it'll keep her focused that she'll have something to do as she lives on her own xxx
I just finished 8 doses of weekly taxol on Friday. I have found it very tolerable, hasn’t stopped me doing anything I want. I used the cold cap and still have my hair. My only side effects have been a red face the following day and slight nose bleeds.
I really tried to avoid this treatment but now I would do it again.
Hi, I had weekly taxol for 18 weeks. I was able to tolerate it quite well. I didn't lose quite all my hair, had some neuropathy in my feet but the main thing was it shrank the cancer (carsosarcoma) so much I have been stable since finishing it 14 months ago and have as yet not needed any further treatment and am feeling very well. I hope it is as helpful for your mum.
Thank you for your reply this definitely gives me hope that she'll decide - yes this is a good idea I'm seeing her tomorrow so will be telling her about this, everyone who has replied seem to have a positive experience with it xxx
Weekly is actually a little easier than the every 2wks...I thought.just rembering when she gets towards end of total treatments is where it worsens.i had to have iron, blood transfusion. But I had good team watching my blood counts
I’m on cycle 10 of weekly Taxol and bi-weekly Avastin. It has kept me stable for most of that time but now it’s time to look at something different. The biggest issue as it accumulates has been fatigue though I’ve managed to escape neuropathy to the surprise of my onco. It’s one of the most tolerable treatments I’ve been on. I wish your special person the best of luck.
Thank you for your reply, I saw her yesterday and spoke with her about this as an option as she was completely set against it she appears more open to the option now so will let her know your response xxx
