Reoccurrence Update

Just got back from the Royal London Hospital where I met my surgeon. Lovely man who has told me that although it is another major operation, he plans to try and get rid of all of the visible cancer. I may be in hospital for 7 -10 days. I am going in at 7am and he has put aside all day for me. Eeeek! Cant say I’m not just a little bit scared, but I have to put my trust in him in the hope that he can give me my life back to live and make the most of. I will let you know how it goes. Gill x

I can only imagine what is going through your mind, but if you think back to your first op, wasn't it not as bad as you had imagined? xx

I sailed through my first op even though it was massive. I think I’m worried more this time as I know what is coming! x

Sending you lots of positive vibes.

When surgery is recommended it sure helps get rid of cancer faster than chemo. All the Best xoxo

Good luck with the surgery Gill I hope it achieves everything it needs to achieve, I was super anxious having 2nd surgery for reoccurrence but also know it’s the best chance of getting rid of it all.

Always a little scary, but i would go for surgery in preference to chemo any time. Every day you will feel a little better and you’ll be happy you’ve done it.

Good luck!

Grace

Best wishes for a successful op and speedy recovery xxx

Good luck Gill, know exactly how you must be feeling. I too had major op for recurrence 11 months ago (3yrs 3mths after first one). I wouldn't let anyone come to the hospital with me when I checked in (I'm much braver on my own). Was "let out" on day 4 after surgery (it was a public hospital, so they don't keep you in for long in Australia) and though felt a bit rough it wasn't as bad as I had anticipated. Touchwood, so far so good. Think they must be highly optimistic in getting it all otherwise I don't think surgery would have been offered. Before you know it, you'll be walking around feeling good again. (Two weeks after surgery I managed to do a 250kms round trip to attend an exhibition, mingle a bit with the crowd and even managed a glass of bubbly. You can do it! Love, Ruth xx

I had my last operation for recurrence 2 years ago. I found thinking about it very daunting, & wasn't sure at first whether to go ahead as it was quite risky, but decided to go ahead anyway, & was glad I did. I wish you, luck with your surgery. Di

I actually envy you!!!! Much better to get rid of the beast that way than weeks of chemo. I have been told that no more ops for me. I am sure it will not be as bad as you think (just think of your previous op) and you will soon be back on your feet cancer free enjoying life. Go for it girl!!! xxxx

Thank you. I’m getting used to the idea. Will be good to get rid of the beast x

Good luck with surgery. It's not an option I ever had and now have second recurrence.

Would be terrified at the thought of surgery but also at the thought of none.

Wishing you lots of luck

I wish you the Best! Take good care of yourself when you get home. I recovered quickly in the hospital and had no complications. It seems like a long stay but you will need it to gain strength back and be monitored. Hugs!

Good Luck! It will feel daunting of course thinking of your first one but there is less to remove (if that was a complete debulking with hysterectomy) so hopefully not what you anticipate! Hope all goes well, rest and recover and you will do great! oxox Judy

Best of luck with your operation. I know it’s tough facing it again but you sound like a real trooper and you’ll get through it. I had major surgery and HIPEC last November for a recurrence . It was tough at the time but after three weeks I was pretty much ok again . I was fit before the surgery and I think that helped my recovery . Stay strong and keep us posted on your progress. Kindest regards , D

Hi Solange. Thank you for your support. I see you spend time in the Algarve. My new partner has a villa there and we are hoping to drive our motorhome down sometime later this year while I am convalescing. Something to look forward to. Good to see that you are managing to enjoy life to the full. x

How lovely to have something like that to look forward to with your new partner!! My husband and I love the Algarve, especially the less touristy bits. We've only ever been in the cooler months, anytime between October and April. Stayed until May one year as we'd had to go down later and it was really hot so be prepared for being Incredibly hot if you go in Summer. If it's winter it can be lovely and hot , out of the wind, but best have some warm and waterproof clothes as well.

Hope you'll have a really happy time together.

Love and best wishes,

Solange 😊

Best wishes for your surgery. I had major surgery in January for a second recurrence, it is very scary and daunting but you have to trust the doctors.
