Berberine?

Hi All

Does anyone know anything about berberine?

Just read book by Jane Mclelland and she has such praise for it. (How to starve cancer)

Done a lot of googling and it seems to have lots of possible uses.

Does not appear to be axailable in Uk.

Will ask Oncologist at next visit but would be grateful to hear from anyone who has possibly used it.

My scan brought forward to Saturday, fingers once again crossed.

Hi Janet,

You should be able to buy berberine from health food shops or online. I don’t think it’s stopped being sold in the U.K. It’s a supplement rather than a drug.

I did a quick google search, and there seem to be UK-based stockists. I can’t vouch for any of them, but a couple are ones I am familiar with and look legitimate.

You can order it on Amazon, there are about 3 different ones on there. Also Chris Woollams CANCERactive NaturalSelection site has it. I have ordered some too. Maybe check with your oncologist before taking?

No, but then I take a few supplements, and she just says don’t take large doses of any one thing. I am on Olaparib at the moment, but it looks like I am teetering on the brink of another recurrence. 😒 ugh. Xxx

Think I may be heading for another recurrence too. CT Scan brought forward to tomorrow.

One step forward and two back.

Onc wants to delay chemo for as long as possible, I am taking Niraparib at the moment and keeping reasonably ok.

Hope we are both wrong with our thinking.

Hello Janet - I have been taking Berberine for a couple of months to hopefully help lower my glucose as I am diabetic. I have read about the connection between excess sugar and cancer but the medical profession jury is still out on that one. However lowering a high glucose is always a good idea weather you have cancer or not. It is early days for me but my glucose has dropped a couple of points so I am planning to continue as I haven't had any side effects and it was cheap to buy, I had to get mine from the US as I couldn't find it here in the UK.

biovea.net/uk - the tabs came in from the US, It took about 3 weeks. I was surprised I didn't have to pay any import duty. I ordered 4 packs. My postie said it was unusual so be warned, I might get caught next time. 😉 Good luck

says they supply from multiple distribution centers in the United States and Asia, and are twice the price. I also prefer websites that accept paypal as you have some comeback if your items fail to arrive.

I got mine from amazon after reading the same book. I'm now taking Metformin prescribed by COC so I only use the berberine occasionally now

I find the drugs are fine and give me no problems. Looking back I would have started on the protocol sooner as I had a recurrence which showed itself less than 4 weeks after I began taking the drugs. I am back on chemo now, alongside the COC protocol, and am pleased with how I'm responding to treatment.

I have just ordered Berberine. I am reading the same book and have a friend who has had amazing success with the regime it suggests. She has v long story but basically was told palliative care only and had to take things I to her own hands - going to Germany for treatment in the end. Anyway this is the link she sent me for the berberine she takes and I’ve just ordered. Should arrive today!

Hi ,I get berberine from Chris Woollams on his Cancer Active site. Ordering and delivery is easy and quick. At one time I ordered a supplement from America - paid for it and it was delivered ok. But shortly afterwards I did get a bill from Customs which I had to pay. It's worth checking- Customs and Excise for America - so find out at what point duty is payable. Best wishes.

Book is easy to read but gets a bit too scientific in places. My husband read it first and is now re-reading especially the later technical chapters

Trying to pull out information relative to us. Why medicines have to have such long names is a mystery!

Going to mention relevant points to Onc at next meeting to see if I can take any of supplements mentioned.

Taking Niraparib at moment.

Looking forward to reading more about it. Also check out the benefits of dried ginger. It can be bought by the pound (organic). Dried ginger is more effective. A scientist from Scripps in an interview stated that dried ginger is more powerful than chemo, yet safer. Quercitin also very good. Found in capers and berries. Black Elderberry has helped me a lot and to keep my lungs strong. During strong chemo (6 months) I did not catch any colds or flu. I use it in supplement form, dried. It’s made by Nature’s Way.

Extremely interesting. Also I have read published studies about plant remedies that have a cytotoxic effect on cancer stem cells. So much info out there to help us.

If you have any questions about fasting to help with chemo, let me know. I went through 6 months of chemo for breast cancer (also had skin mets to the breast which made the situation more complicated) and fasted before and after treatments. Put my body in a protective state to reduce side effects and also made cancer cells extremely vulnerable. I’m finished with chemo, had an excellent response to treatment, and now recovering from surgery. There is a film worth watching called The Science of Fasting. It features a huge study by Dr. Valter Longo, director of Gerentology at USC in Los Angeles. He is conducting human trials now. He has articles and talks online as well. Fasting also renews the immune system. Taking cannabis extract helped me stay hungry between fasts, giving me a huge appetite to fatten up in-between fasts.

Thanks for info. My husband (although fit and well) fasts two days a week.

My problem is constant nausea which is eased by eating,. Went through a patch of not wanting to eat so don't want to go there again.

Looking a lot at cider apple vinegar, and sea buckthorn which I will run past Onc at next meeting .

Wow, fasting 2x a week is tough. Once I recover from surgey I’ll fast once a month and then do intermittent fasting in-between (16 hours of not eating and then eating).

Will check out sea buckthorn.
