Does anyone has experience with ovarian cancer vaccine which is produced using own tumor tissue? In my country (I live in Ukraine) it is not available yet. But I know that in US clinical studies showed great results
Ovarian cancer vaccine : Does anyone has... - My Ovacome
Ovarian cancer vaccine
Often wondered about this. Many many years ago watched a programme on this but think it was a lung cancer patient and it had good results. Think this was in US.
Hi Valeria I live in the United States and am currently lucky enough to be in the vaccine study here in San Diego I am with Scripps Hospital and MD Anderson is one of our cancer centers. They saved my tumor, took blood right after surgery (6 hours) and I started 4 months of Chemo.... in May under went Pharisees (6 hours) to extract my immune dendritic cells and a vaccine was made specifically for my tumor from my cells. Today was my last shot! It started out as one shot a week for three weeks then one shot a month for 5 months. The study last 5 years. We have only 33 in the study and will be taking new patients until they reach
99. There are specific parameters to be accepted (which I am not sure of what they are). My surgical oncologist was the one who recommended me when I got diagnosed! Things work very rapidly here. Was diagnosed on a Monday met with surgeon Friday was in a 6 hour surgery that Monday!
I am getting CT SCAN and BRAIN Scan today and will let everyone know where I stand I hope it is NED........
The only side affects were chills and slight fever 100.4 for approximately 3 hours and then back to normal. No pain or weird symptoms or issues.
I hope this helps I hope we can get a handle on this dreadful [edited by moderators] disease even if I don’t make it it will hopefully pave the road for a vaccine that will someday work!
I have no idea where else they are testing this out. Oh I do have to say it is a double blind study so I won’t know if I am getting this new vaccine or a placebo..... I believe I am due to the slight fevers I experienced for the first couple of hours after getting the injection!
FINGERS CROSSED! Wouldn’t it be wonderful if it works? 2021 would be a shining year!
Summer gold, Please keep us posted. It sounds so hopeful. I have read about it but live on the east coast and don’t think it’s on trial near me. I tend to agree, bc of the side effects, that you did get the actual vaccine. Hoping this works. 🙏🏻 Keep us posted on your scan results and Ca-125 trends. Best, Nadie
Hi Nadie well the scans are in and I am NED! Very happy about that! The small pocket of fluid is gone! It has been one year and a month since surgery. However my ca125 did rise to 40. My Onc and Onc nurse(25 years in Gyn Onc) are not worried as it can be because of shoulder joint issues and arthritis in my neck due to continual pain.....CT SCAN tell all and in two months they have a PET scan scheduled just as a double protection.... I am so grateful for my team! I had my last vaccine shot and having a clear scan gave me the best night sleep last night without worrying! Check out the government website of trials going on there are multiple. clinical trials.gov NCT02033616 is the number that I am in
Hi Summergold, sounds like a real innovation! Keep fingers crossed and please share the future results!)
Hi, I am in the US, and searched the NIH website and MD Anderson website but can't find the info on the vaccine trial you are on. May I ask if you know that name of the clinical trial or the person whom can be contacted for enrollment, please?
Go to clinical trials.gov the particular one I am in is NCT02033616 This sponsored or conducted by Aivita Biomedical this I’d through SCRIPPS GREEN SCRIPPS MEMORIAL AND SCRIPPS MERCY HOSPITALS here in San Diego
Not sure if you have to be in their system and be here in San Diego.
You do have to have stage three or four Ovarian see if there are any other trials that are doing the same?
Scan was totally clear! Doing PET SCAN in two months as follow up!
Thank you, I read about their approach. If this works, visiting SD is no problem for the treatment. I have a question for you. In the criteria, it says that 'patients with one or a few brain metastases'. If you don't mind me asking, do you have to have brain metastasis for you to join the trial?
