Dear Esta,

It is a shame that you must remain so unsettled and nervous about your present and future condition.

Stage One is treated entirely differently than the next stages and surgery usually cures it, without having to have Chemo, which you must know, is very tough in your body.

I think a second opinion is the only solution to put your mind at ease about your cancer.

Now you must do some research.

to find the best Ovarian Cancer hospitals within reach and then as your GP for a referral.

In the mean time, I use ibuprofen for muscle and joint pain, as it reduces inflammation best for me.

To help me sleep, I use Nurofen Plus, which you can get over the counter at a pharmacy. It has just a tiny bit of codeine, which helps me stay asleep.

I think you need to make an appointment to see your doctor to get the answers to all your questions. The limb pains may possibly not be related to your OC.

I thought they always did abdominal washes both before and following surgery especially for cancer related cases. Did your surgeon tell you they didn’t do this?

Not all stage 1 cancers are treated by surgery alone, I had the full carbo/taxol regimen post surgery following my stage 1 diagnosis, I think different surgeons have different treatment protocols mine believed in covering all bases, I know of a few stage 1 ladies who have had chemo and some who haven’t, the cancer type can dictate this also, mine was clear cell which can be particularly difficult to treat. With regards to the microscopic cells, they can sometimes linger with or without chemo, often the chemo is used for mopping up but there are no guarantees with this disease and we are all different both in the way we respond and how we deal with our diagnosis.

You may well have post traumatic issues and a medical professional would be able to help you both to diagnose and also treat you. I think that to a greater or lesser extent we all experience some sort of post traumatic distress following our diagnosis.

Clarityn is a really useful antihistamine, the information leaflet in the package the drug comes in should explain the efficacy. If you feel it isn’t working for you perhaps your doctor could prescribe something better for your allergies.
