HuffPost article on OC in women in their 30’s

Good morning ladies.

I’ve just read an article in HuffPost about younger women and their struggle to get their symptoms taken seriously.

I hope that the recent storylines in a couple of soaps plus the sad passing of Diane Oxberry and articles like this can lead to greater awareness about OC within the medical profession.

I think it’s also important that when the possible symptoms of OC are listed, that it’s made clear that you might only have one or two.

I dismissed OC when I got symptoms because I wasn’t bloated and didn’t lose weight, although I had pelvic pain, constipation, tiredness and needed to pee more often. Looking back now it seems incredible that I was so blind!

It’s so clear now that in the way we all respond differently to Chemo, we all started our long walk down this rocky road in different ways.

Sending you all a virtual hug

Thanks so much for that heads up, Joy.

You are so right.

Our journeys are all so different. The one thing we might have in common, was our ignorance at the beginning!

I had no idea what my symptoms meant.

Ovarian cancer never crossed my mind.

Hugs,

Laura

Hi Joy. Amazingly I had no symptoms and was diagnosed more by chance. I have NEVER had a symptom at recurrence either - that's scary when you really think about it. Had I not made a chance remark to a Dr about my mum having had OC I seriously doubt I would be here now to tell my tale. xx Kathy xx

You’re right Kathy, that is scary.

It just shows how individual we all are.
