Hormone therapy!

Afternoon

Has anybody had a good response from letrozole?

Unfortunately I’m still deemed inoperable due to too much “peppering” on small Bowels after investigative laparoscopy, so after 6 course of chemo for my low grade stage 3C we move onto hormone therapy.

Any info would be welcomed on how they’re doing with it and especially a bloody good success story would lift me at this minute in time.

Cheers

Kate ❤️

I am Low Grade 3C also and I was on Letrozole for about a year and it was great. Very few side effects, certainly tolerable. It will stop working after a period (different for everyone) and I was able to go onto another AI following it. It worked for several months as well. Good luck!

Hi Kate. My mother is low grade 3C and received the same news: after 6 cycles of chemo, still not operable. She is stable and on avastin now, but we will go to another hospital for a second opinion to see if there doctors may consider the surgery. If not, they will offer to add letrozol to the avastin treatment, so in that case I will keep you posted about the side effects. Good luck! Best,

Sara.

Hi Kate. My mum was also 3c when she started letrozole in 2011. Stopped working in 2017 so went briefly onto another one (I can’t remember the name of it but sure it began with A, commonly used for breast cancer). Anyway, that didn’t work so mum started a trial in jan 2018 which has seen the tumours shrink by 57% (last scan a few weeks ago).

Wish you well on the letrozole. Mum said it was manageable although my sister and I used to laugh at her PMT because she did sometimes get a little bit stroppy! Xx

Hi Kate. I've been on Letrozole (plus Avastin) coming on 6 months now. So far I find it very easy to tolerate. The only major side effect I notice is tiredness, but I'm unable to tell whether that is caused by the Letrozole, the Avastin or may simply be considered a lingering aftershock of chemo. I'm not nauseous (halleluja), and night sweats are very light and quite rare.

Whether it makes me moody or not, you'd have to ask my family, friends or co-workers. So far they haven't sent me off into the desert, so I guess it's bearable :) .

Usually, I take Letrozole before I sleep, which seems to work fine.

So far, my ca125 has been slowly dropping. Next check-up happens on 1st Mar. I'll report status then.

Wishing you the best success with Letrozole/HMT! Hopefully those remaining pesky little nodules will disappear over time. Xx. Maus

Hi I have just started on Letrozole. I was diagnosed in 2014 had op and chemo unfortunately it returned last year and I had further op and chemo. I have been told it's now on my peritoneal and can not be cured. I am hoping these little tablets can work their magic. I have on,y been on it for a month so may be to soon for side effects but so far no issues other than tiredness and I do find it hard to regulate my temp, I'm either freezing or boiling - my oncologist is running some tests for this. All the best to you ⭐️

Been taking it for over two years now with virtually no side effects. Good luck.

I have been on letrozole for about 4 months and it is controlling my cancer. Only side effect some hot flushes at night which make my sleep broken but it’s quite manageable. Hope this is helpful.

Hi Kate .. I’ve read all your posts . I know you are very pleased with your doctor . But it doesn’t hurt to get a second opinion, go to one of the big cancer centers in the U.K. . I’m in the states and don’t know the names . It will put your mind at ease . Thinking of you , Jane
