Long term Avastin

I’m new here and I have been in remission (2nd time) for 16 months and will have my 32 Avastin infusion next week. Has anyone been on Avastin for a long time and had a recurrence?

Welcome Jinbear,

There have been other posts re Avastin so you should be able to pick up lots of info. Just consider though, the longer you are on it, the greater the risk of bowel perforation / a very serious side-effect.

All the Best,

Thank you Iris. Definitely something to think about.

I was on it for nearly 3 years and unfortunately I started to recurr. I was really pleased I'd done so well. It was another nine months until I needed to start chemo. I've just had 3rd line chemo (successful but not NED) and have just started the PARP inhibitor, Niraparib.

I heard of a lady recently who had been taking Avastin for over 5 years and still NED.

Hope it does well for you.
