I heard this earlier. Dreadfully sad. Mum saw Prof. Gore until she was transferred to the Sutton hospital. We loved his manner. Giving you results as soon as he walked through the door without all the usual 'so, how are you feeling'. He'd do the nice stuff after! He will be missed.

Absolutely tragic

That is indeed sad. He was my consultant while I was still in the UK, and I absolutely trusted him. Such a kind soul, and indeed one of the top experts in cancer care and research.

When I came back to the UK after my initial diagnosis and surgery, basically while on a family holiday, I was still shellshocked from the diagnosis and facing the prospect of chemo. With no idea where to go, I called a cancer charity and they said to consider the Royal Marsden. So I asked my GP to write a referral and I went knocking on their door. I did nothing to deserve it, and yet had the incredible luck to be told 'You have an appointment with Prof Martin Gore'.

Prof Gore was nothing short of fabulous. He took away much of my initial angst, and made me believe in a future. He was accessible and straight forward, yet without the often found gruffness and rough edge. Instead, he was polite, refined and very considerate. A people person, was Martin Gore. When I needed something like a letter for the insurance, all it took was a brief email to his secretary, and he'd respond promptly.

Even after I moved out of the UK, he was kindly available to provide a second opinion without administrative overhead or charge.

The world is darker without you, Prof Martin Gore. Rest in peace. Respectfully, Maus

It’s very sad news.

Nothing short of tragic! The medical profession and in particular Gynaecology have lost a good man and pioneer in the fight against Ovarian Cancer.

So terribly sad that someone who has supported and saved so many with his incredible work has been tragically taken from the world too soon.

Reminds us all that it’s not how long we live that matters but how we live our precious lives and making a difference with the time we have. 💜Kim x

This is terrible news. I never met him but my trial is under the Royal Marsden. What a terrible loss.

That is very sad news; I attended his clinic at the Marsden but only actually met him two or three times. I had no idea the yellow fever vaccine was a risk.
