Happy New Year Teal Sisters,

Has any sisters used Estrogen Blockers ? How long did you use it. Also, did it keep your cancer stable?

Happy New Year Faith, I started on letrozol last June as my secondary tumours where growing fast, 3 months later they had shrunk by half. But November last year they have started to grow again, but more slowly. I’ve been told I have to keep taking the letrozol for the rest of my life to try to control the cancer, the side effects are not so good though, joint pain, which at times is severe and hair thinning. I hope this is helpful.

Happy New Year Faith, I am taking Letrozole , started August 2017. So far so good, takes awhile to get used to all the side effects but with continual use have gotten more acceptable. Tumours in Peritneum and pelvis have grown minimally, lung mets my problem at the moment, onc. Gave me large dose of steroid so have had a lot more energy over Christmas, just as well as hubby has been on his back in agony with sciatica, so an ill wind and all that I have been caring for him. Wishing you all on this site a Happy and peaceful new year. Love Bridie

I have been on letrozole for 4 months and am tolerating it pretty well apart from night sweats which wake me up. It is keeping my condition stable and I will be on it long term

Hi faith1962

I was on Letrozole for abt. 15/18 months and it kept me stable for this time. I tolerated the side effects well - it mainly being arthralgia, a cross between arthritis and neuralgia which seemed to affect the top right hand quadrant of my body. I didn't need pain relief though and it did ease a lot over time. I am now on Aromasin, another hormone inhibitor, which I've been on abt,9 months now and am stable. Side effects are mainly hot flushes but these are minimal. Good luck!
