High D

Thanks for sharing this article . To my astonishment it echoes a lot of what I have been thinking since being diagnosed. I suppose I was reluctant to say it out loud in case I was thought of as bring anti men which I most certainly am not .

Is it my imagination or are the majority of Oncologists male ? How many female gynaecologists are there in comparison to male. Good as they are they cant possibly understand the female psyche as well as women or even get the point that they can unwittingly ignore a symptom that the woman knows is something to be checked.

I could go on but I would encourage everyone to read this article. I for one am so happy to know there are now brilliant female researchers on oncology. The whole world needs to address this glaring inequality . Good for Sarah and long may she live to continue the fight not just for us but for herself too.

Three of the four consultants I have seen are female - one was a Gynaecological consultant, the other two and the male were Oncologists. Maybe Devon bucks the national trend, maybe they are better at matching the consultant to the patient. I have no knowledge of the overall figures at the hospital.
