Now terminal and going fir a 2nd opinion

Been given some hope. I posted on here about 1 week ago as I was given 12 - 18 months. Not one to give up the fight as I have to for the sake of my 2 young children (10 and 13). I went to see my gp on Monday to be referred for a 2nd opinion at the Christie and have an appointment on 27th Nov. I've got everything crossed I'm suitable for cytoreductive surgery with HIPEC as it could just save my life. It's on the outside if my colon, numerous mets in my peritoneum and a new spot on my bladder. Never give up the fight. Cancer sucks

To be fair I took my son to the doctors and saw the nurse practitioner (he has a skin condition that his brothers have) saw her for asthma and she referred him to the dermatologist I had a letter 2 days later, the scary thing is she was better than the doctors so in future I’m going to ask to see her rather than a GP xxx

Got everything crossed for you. Have not (so far) been a patient at Christies but worked there as a nurse for some years and thought it was an amazing place with lots of innovative stuff going on.

Hi Blondie75, defying the odds is what it's all about! You have such a great attitude and I'm amazed at your tenacity.

Just a few words regarding your children. My mother passed when my sister and I were only 6 years old (twins) and my two brothers were 10 and 12 respectively so I know the pain of losing a parent at a young age. If you have the energy, prepare a letter or letters to each of them separately. I would love to have something from my mother that she wrote and prepared just for me. Of course telling them how proud you are of them and mention all the things you love about them...their smile, their laugh, their sense of empathy, whatever it is. Mention that no matter what happens in their life you will be looking over them.

Second, which you might have already done (who doesn't own a smart phone), prepare a short monologue for them and record it. I would love to see my mother's face and even just hear her voice. I'm 50 and back when my mother passed, these tools really weren't available (she didn't write us letters either).

Third, don't make any promises (ie. I promise I won't die). My mother, who of course would have done anything to keep this promise, made this to my brother on one occasion shortly after her diagnoses. After she passed, he remained angry at her for a long time.

Prepare for the worst but fight it tooth and nail! Wishing you all the best! Bellallife.

Thank you. It must of been really tough of you all. I've already set up a joint e-mail account for them both for stuff like that. Photo's of us all, things that make me proud. Videos of us. I've never promised I won't die. Going to write letters for when they graduate, get married have kids them selves and also birthday cards until they both get to 21 xx

Good for you! My mother only lasted a year to the month she was diagnosed so I'm not sure she had the time? Worse comes to worse, they will have these keepsakes forever! You are an awesome Mom! Bellalife.

Hi, my wife was diagnosed PPC 3C in Dec 2015. Underwent cyroreduction with HIPEC followed by six cycles of chemo IV as well as IP. Three years later and one minor recurrence later for which she is completing her oral chemo, she is doing well. Her prognosis was 5 years but I'm sure that she has another 10 at least (God Willing). Reason I'm saying this is I laud your positive attitude as it's the way to go and Keep The Faith.

Everything crossed for you Blondie 75. Its at times like this that we must speak up for ourselves and fight with all our strength. We must always question decisions and that is exactly what you're doing. Good luck and let us know how you get on. My daughters are now 11 and 15. This has been an awful year for us all as a family but their response to my diagnosis has astounded me. Their maturity and empathy has been so amazing to witness. As a family it has brought us all even closer. xx
