Ovary removal

Hi

I had cervical cancer 10 years ago and kept my ovaries. Next week I’m getting one out as it’s attached to bowel and I get cysts on it..about 6 a year.

I had a cyst removed 7 years ago and remember the pain being just as bad as the radical hysterectomy.

Anyone had ovary removed recently? Just wondering if pain level gone down due to new techniques 🤗

Thanks

Deb

Hi Deb

I’ve had my left ovary and tubes removed in March 2018. It was meant to be solely through laparoscopy but due to the condition of my ovary, my Gynaecologist decided to do an incision as well (about 4 cm).

I’m not sure what type of procedure you’re undergoing. The pain on the incision was bearable except when you laugh, cough or sneeze. I think the biggest discomfort for me was passing stool for the first week. I had sharp pains in my abdomen which only lasts for a few seconds each time. The other discomfort I had was the tightness and pulling sensation each time I walk. I still get it now but it comes and goes.

All the best for your procedure next week (I’m having my other ovary removed next week too plus other parts of my female plumbing 😂).

xx Lena

Hi

Oh thank you. I’m having it done laparoscopically and just left ovary and Fallopian tube. I’ve also given permission for him to create an incision if needed as it’s fully attached to bowel and when I get a cyst on it the pain to pass bowel motion is horrific.

So how long before you off pain meds?

Thanks!!

Deb

Hi, i had my right ovary and tube removed in June this year and It was wee buns. I was in a day and had virtually no pain or side effects (apart from the sore shoulder with the gas). As it was laparoscopic there are no scars.. result!

I had left ovary and 2 tubes removed 2 weeks ago.keyhole but bigger incision was needed as cyst on ovary had ruptured.

Pain not too bad except bigger one any pressure but all good apart from that. Look into benefits of keeping an ovary lot women font realise how important it is.all the best .
