Hi lovely, welcome to our lovely gang, ask any question you need to and one of us here will be able to give the answer you need. We clear cell ladies are very special, only around 5% of all ovarian cancer patients are diagnosed as being clear cell.

I was diagnosed 1c clear cell in 2014, I had the usual surgery followed by weekly chemo (I took part in a clinical trial). Apart from a neuropathy, slightly obsessive body awareness and a delightful scar I’m as well as I could realistically ever hope to be. It’s great they’ve caught your cancer nice and early too, you’ve done the hard bit with the surgery, the chemo is what it is, it’s tolerable and an important step in the process for getting a grip on this rubbish disease.

I hope you are recovering nicely from your surgery and ready to take on the next bit. Keep strong lovely, ❤️Xx Jane

Dear Jane

Thank you for your reply.

Chemo going well.

Surgery was good.

It's just hard accepting the disease and moving on with my life.

Right now I feel I am living another life.

Will be nice to hear from more people.

God bless

Hi there,

I’m clear cell too, stage 1c, had 2 surgeries (terrible), 6 lots of chemo (awful) and now finishing up with 25 blasts of radiotherapy (so far so good but bound to be dreadful eventually haha) - treatment is a long hard slog as far as I am concerned but hopefully it’s making them horrible little clear cells suffer too 😀

There’s a few clear cell ladies on here.....just wanted to say welcome! I had a big old worry about having clear cell, having been an idiot and googled, but my doc said clear cell can often be a good thing as it tends to get caught early and for OC the earlier the better. And stage 1a is as early as it gets so that’s positive.

Wishing you the very best for the rest of your treatment ❤️

Ps i get radiotherapy as I had positive cells in my pelvic washings after surgery, but most folk get to stop at chemo x

Dear ladies

Is it true that clear cell is considered aggressive?

Thanks

thats my understanding, which is why we get chemo at stage 1 I think x

That’s how I understand it too, I also believe that clear cell can be more symptomatic which is why we can often be diagnosed earlier and also that the CA125 test isn’t always a good indicator for us, mine never went above 69. The chemo is often a mopping up exercise to make sure they got all the little blighters they’re dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s as much as possible. I think roobarb is saying to you not to google our disease, she’s right, the information is so so so out of date and therefore can be bloomin scary. Good luck with the remaining chemo, the side effects are cumulative but certainly doable. Keep on keeping on lovely ❤️Xx Jane

I have been hooked to the Internet though husband keeps saying not to.

I now realize it was a big mistake cause all they give is negative.this has affected me emotionally.

Good luck with Radiotherapy.

I am still trying to cope with diagnosis .

Anyway ladies I am venting .

All the best xxx

Dear Purplish!

It's been 2 years 4 months since my diagnosis of clear cell stg1b of endometrial adenocarcinoma.

Had the surgery, chemo and radiotherapy done and check my bloods every 3/4 months.

It was devastating at first, since googling our type of cancer only gives scary results!

But you will make it as it was caught super early! Keep looking straight ahead and you'll get there I promise. I'm back to my old self bar a few issues and back when i started i was almost paralysed with fear!

Good luck and take care.

Dear Maryanne

Thank you,yes internet is scary.

It's one of the reason that made me depressed as I read too much.

I am glad you are back to normal.

May I ask how your chemo went.

Did you loose your hair?

Many thanks my dear and all the best.

Hi Purplish!

Yes I did lose all my hair on Carbo/Taxol after the second chemo session it started to fall out drastically, but when all the sessions were over it grew back all curly and now it's as strong and healthy as ever!

In Malta, they use radiotherapy for grade 3 clear cell endometrial carcinoma because it's considered as aggressive and studies show that it's kept under control at least regionally. In fact recurrences tend to show up outside the irradiated pelvic area.

Hope that answers your queries.

Good luck with the treatment.

The chemo sessions are doable. It takes a week to recover..joint pains and feeling poorly and (wretched) are the norm but the second week, the pains start to abate and energy levels begin to return to normal. By the 3rd week, you would have bounced back , but then it's time to take the next cycle. It's all manageable but try to listen to your body and rest when you need to, also get out and enjoy life when you're up to it.

It is terrifying to get a cancer diagnosis.Try not to worry.Easier said than done but worrying is to tell yourself that somethings wrong. You are past that now and will get the best possible treatment so watch a movie and just don t think about it for a while. It will get better emotionally as time goes on but there will be ups and downs.
