Lost Voice - where did it go?

Although I am on the wrong forum for my cancer I have found many of the side effects very similar. I have a facial cancer called Retiform hemangioendothelioma. Chemo was drastic despite being physically fit. Although chemo finished a year ago (Paclitaxel) I still have not recovered my voice lost during excessive and almost violent reflux coughing. Has anyone else had this? Did the voice come back? The Ear NoseThroat surgeon says the flaps in the throat do not close properly but did not offer any solution and the Onco also accepts it as maybe/maybe not - that it will come back. Whispering is not good for the Sergeant Major in me.

Hi there! This is a site for ovarian... although plaxitaxel is used in its treatment too. Can’t help on the lost voice front but you probably need a real specialist..as my daughter is a singer I am aware that there are medical specialists in this area...maybe talk to your doctors about being referred? Best of luck xx

Lyndy the similarities in side effects are remarkable. Chemo is dangerous and full of risk.

Hi Al, glad you find our forum overlaps in helpfulness for your cancer.

My friend who is a teacher lost her voice, thought it was raising her voice in class but a GP friend suggested a PPI drug to inhibit stomach acid production (Omeprazole or Lansoprazole) and it worked! Wonder if you are on something similar? The vocal cords may have been damaged by the acid?

Best wishes

Seasun36 thanks. That is positive and I will pass onto my Oncologist - so it will be a wait to voice my opinion.
