Are there admins who monitor who joins? I am followed by a man on here. Don’t want them lurking

If someone is causing you alarm or upset you can report their post to admin by clicking on the more button underneath the post and clicking report.

However I will add that some of the chaps on this forum are very welcome additions from a family/partner perspective and offer lots of support and signpost us to research etc. Ovarian cancer doesn’t just affect women it affects their whole family and friends so being male doesn’t exclude you from this site however being rude or inconsiderate would whatever gender you are

Hope this helps

Bev xx

Thanks I'll look at that. I think he is collecting people to follow to try to sell something eventually. He's made no posts but is following 4 folks.

I’m not sure how you can stop someone following you but if this guy hasn’t made contact either with a direct message or post I’m not sure how you know he will try to sell you something? If you have any worries though please contact Anna the Ovacome admin and she will look into this person for you. There has recently been someone messaging members for money so if this has happened to you please report it to admin xx

Hi Calena, I can see this is your first post so cant really understand why you are saying you are followed. I agree there are partners on here and they have been through tough times with their loved ones, I have never felt offended by any of them whatsoever

I guess I've had private conversations with members. The person is 55Happyman he is following 4 members but has posted nothing about himself other than some generic sentences. It doesn't sound like a real entry. We tend to put a lot of details in our posts about first occurrence, treatment, numbers, etc. Where we've had success or failures. I understand when a spouse or friend posts something. Those are heartfelt messages.

He only seems to have joined today but his profile says he has skin cancer. Seems a bit odd.

I just sent him a polite message saying it’s for lady cancers not skin, hopefully he’ll get the message and not bother anyone xxx

Yes, I sent note to Anna. Also a message to him to get off of here. LOL

He's following me, too, Calena. But admin seems to be taking care of it. Thank you for the heads up.

How do you find out who is following you?

Go to your profile and you’ll see an option for followers, as well as those you are following. It may all be innocent as he’s in the States and so are the four he’s following. I think when he joined yesterday, he got the “you might be interested in these people. Would you like to follow them?” Or words to that effect. He’s on the wrong site though.

I got to "followers" but I can't click on it for the list of who they are. I am in the US so a bit curious if I am one of them.

No, not you. I think the system "suggests" people by distance, so perhaps you are too far away. Wonder why you can't see followers? I can see your followers. Sometimes the steps are a little different depending upon whether you're using a phone, tablet, or computer.

Thank you! I was in my laptop when I tried. Will try something else. It tells me how many followers but I can’t click on it.

Ah! Move further down from where you see the number of followers. You will see Posts : Replies : Followers : Followed. Click on Followers, likewise if you click on Replies you can see all the Replies you’ve made, etc.
