It’s so early on with everything I’ve been getting a lot of symptoms of ov cancer and went to my doctors to seek his opinion, he has put me forward for a CA125 blood test which I had yesterday and I’m also waiting on a date for a ultrascan in the post ! I know it’s early on and could be anything , but cannot seem to think of anything but he worst ! How long did it take for people to find results of bloods and get scan dates ? Did the doctor feel anything when they manual felt around the areas as mind didn’t really comment when he had a feel ? I’m panicking , my twin sister had it a few years ago which they caught by luck ( no symptoms at all, and bloods cane back normal ) the only reason why they found it as they were trying to remove a coil which had been stuck! So obviously I’m felling like this as I know it is known as the silent killer because usually symptoms don’t show until it is later on ? Please let me know your experiences ? The internet all said the same thing , so not any real voices on there which I have found anyway. Xx x.

We will all feel for you here on this site, so never worry about thinking you are 'OTT', especially with your experiences of your twin sister. Try not to use 'Dr Google'...remember 'he' relies on statistics and they are 'history', not how we are responding to treatments now.

Hello....it can take a while to get a diagnosis and the waiting is very stressful. However... it is great that your doctors are taking this seriously and they are working to eliminate OC as the source of your symptoms. Although this is scary you wouldn’t really want it any other way.
There are many reasons why you could be getting these symptoms..my friend and I went through diagnosis at the same time...she had fibroids, I had OC.
You can’t be sure of anything yet Try to stay in the moment.. you will find plenty of support here either way Best of luck xx
Did you have any genetic testing at the time your sister was diagnosed, I would suggest you also ask for this as the result leaves you more open to other treatments should you need them. But for now its wait and see what the tests show, this can be very hard and your mind can to into overdrive. Try not to pre empt the results. I also agree that googling isn't a good idea, the stats are way out of date and there are more people managing Ovarian Cancer these days. Hi Love, It's normal to feel this way especially since your sister had experience with it,this does not mean you have but you are doing the right thig and your Dr seems to be on the ball, he have given you all the right test .

Hi there. It's a stressful time when you worry about unexplained symptoms while waiting for results of relevant exams or scans. While I believe the others are right in recommending not to google, I know that I myself could never follow that advice and always dug through the internet like crazy during those times. May I just propose that you take your findings with a grain of salt for now, and try to distract yourself from the topic as well as you can while waiting?
If worried about OC, you are on the right path i.e. a vaginal ultrasound, a ca125test (which may or may not be a good indicator) and, if in doubt, a CT scan should provide your doctors with a reasonably solid indication of whether there's a likelihood of malicious tumours, or whether your symptoms are caused by something else (which I hope). The chance of being diagnosed with OC is overall pretty low, but better to be sure, I think.
Agree with the other ladies on consulting the Ovacome hotline and considering a genetic test for (e.g. BRCA) mutations too.
For now, my fingers are crossed that the source of your symptoms turns out to be something non-cancerous, but please let us know. All the best. Maus
Hi, i went to my gp in Feb and as I mentioned bloating she recommended the ca 125, I got the results the day after..... It was slightly raised at 45. She put me forward for an ultrasound which I had 2 weeks later and results were all fine. I had also been referred to gynae by gp for other problems and whilst there in July I mentioned the blood test and consultant wanted to redo it. I didn't hear anything so presumed fine. Rang gp couple of weeks ago and happened to ask for the results..... Ca 125 had gone up to 47 so she requested a ct scan. Had that yesterday so waiting for results. It's the waiting that's horrible. Fingers crossed for you. You couldn't have found a nicer group to be in..... I'm new on here and already feeling less stressed over things xx
I do understand your worry especially given your sisters history. Your GP should be able to push your tests through given the history in the family and if there are any causes for concern the fact you have acted quickly should work in your favour. My GP found a mass when he examined me and I had also had an unexplained pelvic bleed which set the wheels in motion.
Please stay off Google, it’s just not accurate and the stats and info there are often wrong and also it’s so very easy to misunderstand the info and scare yourself unnecessarily .
The CA125 results should be back with you soon and the scan should help with any diagnosis for you. These things do take time and it’s pointless telling you not to worry because you will anyway, we all do, we’re only human.
Let us know how you get on with your tests, I’m sure your sister will be a tower of strength for you during this time as she knows exactly how you’re feeling, as do we all. You have our support, we’re here for you and will try to answer any questions you have.
2 years before I was diagnosed I had a strange pain in my neck which spread to other areas and had some unusual fatigue. My blood test showed immflamation and severe anaemia. My GP gave me a ca 125 which came back at 16. She also had a prod around and found nothing. I was eventually diagnosed with polymyalgia but my GP always suspected cancer. 2 years later the nausea started , my ca 125 went up to 67, GP had another prod around and found a slight fullness near my right ovary and I was sent for an ultrasound. I had advanced clear cell ovarian cancer. I don't think you should be panicking but it is sensible to have the checks- the waiting is horrid but there is no choice. There is no history of cancer in my family. Did your sister have gene testing? Please don't assume the worst- it is a rare cancer.lease let us know how you get on.
Wow I’m so taken back with all of your helpful responses ! I feel a little calmer today thanks to your responses, as a lot of you have suggested I shouldn’t panic just yet anyway!

The symptoms I have had are bloating , very irregular periods , sickness regularly , pain in the upper leg and pelvic bone area and my lower back.
Still waiting for my scan date and blood test results... although when my sister had hers done they came back completely normal, as mentioned above... the doctor said if these two test came back with nothing he will be sending me to a gyanacolegist so at some point will find out what it is that is causing me all these issues.

It’s difficult for you, but also difficult for the family. My attitude was, do some nice things to take the mood off, go for a walk, nice Sunday lunch, or keep yourself occupied, knitting, reading, go to a good concert, out with friends, let your hair down, or do silly stuff with the kids, go to the beach, build sandcastles or fly a kite.
Whatever will happen, will happen and worrying won’t make it any better, just stress you out, trust me we have all been there!
