Hiya Ladies, this morning I cleaned off my old nail polish in order to reapply fresh coat and discovered that I had small brown spots on each finger nail for the first time! I redid my nails cos to tell the truth they looked creepy! I believe its the chemo- I'm on carbo/caelyx...had scan last Friday, results next Monday, BRACA negative in letter which arrived today, hoping the chemo is doing its job cos I feel so well with little side affects and I do like to do my nails etc and try and look and feel a bit glam so today I went with silver nails with #rock star# speckles!😀💗😀🌺

🤔Does anyone else have little brown spots on their finger nails?🤔🌺
Hi BB1. I noticed after 3 treatments, my nails were getting discolored stripes on them. Eventually, 1 had 6 stripes. One for each treatment. As my nails grew out, the stripes did, too. Chemo can really affect nails, even blacken them and loosen them. Keep them glammed, tho! It certainly lifts up the spirits!
No brown spots but frontline chemo caused some sortf bleeding in my big toe nails and damage that has taken about a year to grow out. The clinical trial that I'm on seems to be causing my thumb nails to flake continuously.
Hi Dawn. I've not been affected after 6x Carboplatin/Taxol (yet) but one of my chemo buddies saw brown spots and stripes appear this week.
Have you tried to a) cool your hands/fingers via cold gel packs during chemo and/or apply the following layers?
1. nail hardening base coat (with silicium if possible)
2. uv protection polish
3. silicium top coat
That might help too. All the best. Maus.
Hi , I have had two infusions of Carbo / Caelyx and no nail discolouration yet , however last year after I had finished frontline Carbo / Taxol my toe nails lifted and I eventually lost two and most of my finger nails were discoloured.Just got back to normal when I started again xx
