Hello ladies, I was wondering if any of you have every tried either Reiki or Bowen to help you? The hospital I'm with offers 3 treatments free of charge. Do you think it can be helpful in treating our OC? Big hugs xx

I'm sorry I don't know what these things are but I'd try anything that doesn't harm me. Good luck. xx

I don't think either of them will actually treat OC, but they may help tolerate it. I had Bowen for a different issue, back in the days when a strained muscle was a huge issue, and it helped. Reiki is one of those things that you need to believe in.

Hi. I wouldn't expect the Reiki or Bowen practitioners to suggest that they are specifically treating the OC. Rather they are treatments to help to promote your general feeling of wellbeing that you can have alongside other treatments. I've not had Bowen before but I have had Reiki. I found the session very relaxing. I don't particularly like having massage so I found the minimal contact Reiki to be more suitable for me. I'm not sure you have to totally believe in it. You can go along and see how it goes, especially if it's for free.

Personally I think if something helps you to relax and it doesn't harm you or others then it's worth a try.

Im actually starting reiki this Friday at my hospital I am looking forward to it, I have done reflexology since my second chemo treatment and it was brilliant, i also do a yoga class weekly I was thinking of bio energy healing too but it is expensive I will see how many reiki sessions I can get in the hospital as it isn't recognized for health insurance or tax rebate, Some alternative practitioners believe that cancers can occur in healthy people because of the negative energy paths and chakras getting blocked, I believe this too to a certain extent but I would only use it as a complementary therapy with my treatment i wouldn't choose this over medicine, they definetly provide positivity which results in you having a bit of energy to go for walks and take an interest in healthy diets etc and I feel they helped with anxiety around treatment days. I also have crytals I bought one called unakite that is a healing of physical energy and I have clear quartz these stones are really good when mediating. Take Care Clare xx

Thank you for your replies, I am going to try the Reiki sessions, I don’t think it won’t help my cancer directly but I think it will help me with my mindset and be a little more relaxed and positive. That has to be a good thing as I’ve been on the negative side recently which I know isn’t a good thing. I recently won a holistic facial and she used crystals during this and that was so relaxing and uplifting. I guess I’m hoping for the same feeling again. Big hugs xxx

Hi Tay100 I had the first reiki session today, it was very relaxing and a good experience, I felt very calm and relaxed after it the rest of the day didn't go as well as I hoped my CA 125s were gone up a bit from 202 to 249 I am on avastin as maintenance But the reiki was a really good experience the heat that surrounds the body during the session is really relaxing and uplifting I will def get some more they offer 6 free treatments at our hospital. My next one is september the 7th as the therapist will be on holiday in August I am not sure if you need to do them together to benefit or how spaced out is your course.

My husband did a lot of Reiki on me when I was first diagnosed in 2016. It was beneficial to us both. Go for it :)

I have had reiki a few times and it is deeply relaxing. I suppose it is also dependent on the practitioner. There are many short lessons that result in that it’s quite easy to Achieve “master” status apparently? I had a wonderful lady though and I’m sure the hospital would only employ well trained practipners? Go for it! It’s not something that interferes more complimentary and relaxing x

My hospital offered the same complimentary therapy so l tried reiki ,I was amazed at the restful way it had for my mind, beautiful sharp colours and pictures.I physically noticed my body relax and seemed to switch off,I think I was very lucky as my therapist was lovely, but for me the thing it allowed was for me to cry .This may seem a funny thing to say but as you ladies know this dreadful disease makes you have to be strong for your family and stay positive so to be allowed to grieve for yourself without upsetting any one was quite a relief to me.I can out feeling uplifted and strangely calm ready to fight on.So l would say give it a go you have nothing to lose. 🌞💚🌈 Linda xx

That doesn't sound funny at all. Crying is a great stress relief. I think it's a shame that society views crying in the way that it does, i.e. oooh are you alright, a I always feel better after crying because it helps me to release stresses. Surely it's a better stress relief than getting angry and taking it out on someone else. If someone spots me crying and wants to 'assist' I just say give me a few minutes to cry it out and I'll be fine thanks.

My daughter practices Reiki. It should help you relax .it can also help with pain. She can take away my bad migraine headaches and other pains. She is quick to tell anyone it’s not a cure but a conduit to help you .

She also gives Reiki to the stressed staff at her local hospital.

I had Reiki sessions regularly between chemo sessions and found it calming and supportive. It definitely doesn’t harm anything, so give it a try. Wishing you all the best, Christine

Hello, I had my first reiki session yesterday and it was amazing! I was so relaxed afterward. Half way through it was really strange as it felt as though something was pushing up from the centre of my tummy towards my mouth. It made me shudder and cough but then I relaxed again for the rest of the session. I don't know what this was, when I checked afterwards I was told that lots of people have different reactions and the next time I go it could be completely different. Overall it was a wonderful experience and I'm glad I went for it xxx

Hi ladies,

Please do daily meditation and learn energy healing! It relieves pain and anxiety. I can not imagine my life without it after my diagnosis in July of 2017.

I started with just classical meditation to calm my mind for 30 minutes a day. I then was curious about the energy healing and slowly via you tube videos I learned it. Practice it every day and you will find how beneficial is for your health in general. Much love to all!
