Specialist appointment

So after being in what felt like limbo for so long (no really that long) I got a phone call today and have an appointment for this Friday. After the initial referral being declined the re-referral was given a Priority 1 status. I’m not sure for the priority but I feel like things are gonna start moving. As a nurse working in a busy A&E when people wait longer this is a good thing, if you get rushed through - it is a sign that a certain amount of urgency is required. So I am both excited and anxious. But mostly happy that I have an appointment to see the specialist. Sending love and light to all & best wishes to everyone at whatever stage you may be at in this journey - pre-diagnosis, pre or post surgery, remission or recurrence - each and everyone of you deserve happiness and joy, so try to find one thing that can make you smile today if only for mere seconds xx

P.S. Melon - we’re onto you mate!!

Dear Selki,

So glad something hopeful is happening.

I wish you the best of luck for this appointment. Armed with all your new knowledge and perhaps a friend or family member, possibly recording the appointment on their mobile, you can ask all the right questions.

CA-125 and other cancer marker blood tests, CT or Pet scan, and how quickly can everything be arranged?

Are you seeing a specialist in your hospital? What kind of specialist are they, surgeon, gyn, or gyn Oncologist? Look up what you can on them and their team.

I was seen at the RUH in Bath and the info on the team here, and its sister team in Bristol was very reassuring.

Best wishes,

Laura

Good luck, it’s good you now have things moving in the right direction and melon can be severely dealt with. Let us know how your appointment goes and what the plan of action is. ❤️Xx Jane

Can anyone think of any questions that I should be asking the specialist?? I will write them down & take them along to appointment as I don’t want to forget anything or leave the appointment with more questions unanswered.

I hope it's a tiny 'seedless' grape!!!!!!

Selkington profile image
Selkington in reply toIrisisme

That would be much better but grapes don’t grow 12cm where I’m from - it feels like I’m 3 months pregnant!! Lol

Only 3?!!!!! Yeah, just a grapefruit then 😉

It’s been a while - but it does feel similar - without the movement - other than gas ;) but getting the frequency of urine, bloating, fullness, indigestion, uncomfortable, and even sore hips and tail bone/lower back.

Sorry for last comment- I blame the drugs! You have to write a list of questions and don't be intimidated, take it out and tick them off in the appointment. It is what I do.

Ps at my first ever internal exam the gynaecologist said she could feel something the size of a melon, I didn't think to ask then "honeydew or water"!
