Rotterdam protocol
Hi there this is one I haven't done. It may not be as bad as you think. Wishing you all the best
Thank you
Ah , I have been on Rotterdam regime ....January 2013..for eight months ....having been treated with carbo taxol , and gem carbo in 2011 to 2012....I was told how hard it was , but rather sailed through it all . I lost my hair again, but the bugger was kept at bay until the following January . My recurring friend is pretty regular , but I am still here ! Cisplatin needs a long time because of kidney flushes , and etoposide you take daily as a tablet ( although I believe the Christie does it differently ) ...sickness pills essential , and therefore laxatives too ....but I am sure you can get a routine going ....I had cisplatin a second time in 2015 , and recently finished a trial , now on cyclophosamide . Where there's a will .....Every best wish xAngela Dale
Thank you. You are in resilient lady. She who dares wins. Can you explain the kidney flush thing. It’s just that they said, they might need a couple of days to support by kidney before I start the chemo.
Also I see you also did the promab trial. I’ve just been told to get histology done to see if I have high micro satellite instability (HMSI) which would qualify me for it.
So we seem to be on very similar paths....really appreciate your reply.

Cisplatin is hard on the kidneys in that the kidneys work hard to get rid of it . as I undertand it ....dont quote me !
The flush is through the port / cannula , about an hour dripped in and you get to pee a lot ! Yeh ! Sit by the loo in the ward !
Then in goes the cispaltin ....hair loss , exhaustion , but if you can go with the flow all the better . The etoposide ( probably ) didn't do it for me , but cisplatin did , which is why I had it a second time . Keep your liquid intake high nevertheless .
I am now getting a bit weary with it all ....but when the weather picks up we will all feel better I am sure .
Good Luck with it all x
Thank you. I have a kidney under pressure which is why I was interested in the kidney flush comment. It explains why they went from outpatient day 1 admin plan to inpatient day or two kidney prep before chemo. Well I shall see what next week brings. Thank you again for sharing x
I'm currently on this regime, having day 1 of 2nd cycle at the moment. Apart from feeling very tired and having treatment deferredby a week due to low white cells, I haven't found it too bad. I hope you are able to tolerate it and does the job in kicking the beastie into touch. Take care. Ali xx
I have had cisplatin too. They put a port in my belly so they can do belly washes. I hated every minute of it but the chemo did get rid of the cancer
