Hugs to all. Is anyone on Avistin after chemo???

Wondering about side effects as I have had severe cramps lasting night and day. I think maybe wind.

Hi 1032

I don't remember stomach cramps as a side effect of Avastin but it could well be. Maybe ring your team to check?? x

Hi 1032. I've been on 3-weekly avastin following chemo for around 2.5 years. I've never had cramps.

Best wishes. Pauline

Hello 1032

Here is a link for the Macmillan information on Avastin: macmillan.org.uk/cancerinfo...

You'll see it mentions that if you have sudden and severe abdominal pain, you need to let your team know. Hopefully what you are experiencing is caused by wind or something else that is easy to resolve, but please do contact your team so they can discuss this with you.

Best wishes

Anna

Hi 1032......I have just started on the avastin only ......every three weeks. I had avastin all along with my chemo for first recurrence starting in June. I have not had any stomach issues, but everyone is different. I would ask your doctor or the nurse. I wish you the best.....Judyved

Hi 1032

My mum is on Avastin as a maintenance treatment, like you. She also has abdominal pain which she describes as being like period pain. At the hospital, where she has mentioned this, they are rather vague about the cause. I think it's linked to constipation rather than the Avastin itself. My mum has 8 paracetamol a day but also has a bit of morphine at night to ease the pain. I know she doesn't like taking all this medication but it's better than feeling uncomfortable

Thanks

Chris

My GP has said after such an extreme surgery that nerves need to grow and mend so could be that, also agreed that could be wind pains.

That’s a lot of pain meds. each day. I’d keep on at oncologist and your mums GP. I had an ultra sound after cramps and was told while having it that I had a lot of wind.

Hope pain eases for your mum.
