Hi Zena

I have had it twice on its own, first and second line but that was for low grade serous so not PPC. I had no side effects whatsoever and didn’t feel ill once so that was a bonus! I hope you manage to get your problems with reactions under control that’s the last thing you need as well as having to deal with the disease itself!

Hugs

Hi Zena

I had carboplatin only for my first line treatment. I am high grade PPC. It worked very well, side effects were tolerable, and it put me into complete remission. My consultant told me that although carbo taxol is the standard of care for first line, it is the carboplatin that does at least 90% of the work.

I hope it goes well for you if you decide to go ahead with it. You must be exhausted by going through reactions to treatments, I hope that your team are able to stabilise everything soon.

X

Thanks ladeez I'm just really worried that they can only knock this cancer with two agents

Hi Zena, if I were you I would ask your team as to the reasons why they dont offer Gemzar, I had Carbo with this and it work well for me, I also had Carbol and Taxol first line. I would also ask for a Braca testing whick would help to tailor the drug most suitable for you.

Hi Zena.I have PPC..I had Carbo/Taxol first line. When I had my first reocurence I had Carbo/Taxol again.Im right now on second reocurence and I am only on Carbo.Ive had three treatments so far.I had a scan and it shows that the carbo is working.I will finish up with three more treatments...I have severe bloating, bowel issues, weight gain, but if treatment is working I will work on these issues.PLUS NO HAIR LOSS...What a bonus.Good luck with your treatment.....I am braca negative.CA125 going down also.Lynn💙💙🤗

I re-acted to Taxol too. Ok first time, re-action second time but managed it at a slower pace. Third time another re-action so that was - it no more Taxol. Blood counts always down so they cancelled my sixth chemo. I did feel that I hadn't had the best course of treatment but the oncologist said that I was more at risk from the treatment than the cancer. That was nearly 4 years ago! So fingers crossed for me and you! Xx

Thank you have you been in remission or had more chemo types since?

I am sooooooo lucky to have been in remission for that time. Most of the time I am absolutely fine but the slightest niggle does set me wondering if it is back. My oncologist will only do tests if I have symptoms but my GP will do a CA 125 if I ask. I just incur the wrath of the oncologist if I do!!! I am only on annual checks now. It is a strange life we lead after a cancer diagnosis. When people ask me if I am ok I usually say that I am fine, I think!! My wish for you and all the other wonderful ladies on this site is that you do as well as I have and get a good period of remission. xx

Wow you are another warrior.my reactions we're exactly the same with taxol so only got one dose out of three. Strange they put it in slow was fine. Then they tried slow again I reacted??

Let's hope this single agent works like it did for you.

Did you have any maintenance?

No I had nothing once declared NED! My treatment involved 2 operations to remove 2 tumours and then 5 chemo. I do, like a few women on this site, have an incisional hernia from the ops. I know it could come back any time but I try really hard to think that until it does I can't do anything except get on with life. Just cross fingers and everything else and hope. Keep in touch and willing you to do well. Xx

Hi Zena, I have grade IV PPC. I was diagnosed in Feb 2015. I had carboplatin on it's own after the first dose (when I had taxol as well). The treatment worked really well and I have been NED since July 15. Like you I was worried that carboplatin wouldn't work without the taxol but it did and I am truly grateful. Love Anne xx

I am having carboplatin on its own for 1c high grade for my first chemo. I was wondering as well if I should have had taxol but was told that I did not need two agents due to 1c. Decided not to query it further as I just wanted the least possible side effects.
