Hello, Any stage 4b ovarian Cancer survivor here ?
Ovarian cancer stage 4b: Hello, Any stage 4b... - My Ovacome
Ovarian cancer stage 4b
Hi
There are a fair few of us stage 4s although I don't know if I was 4 a or b because I think those classifications were new.
We know that some stage 4 ladies have survived long term- and although it may not be a large percentage I think that helps me to consider the future. Also there are ladies who have recurrent disease but still living for many years and enjoying life.
In the end it's what's happening now today this minute that matters because no one knows what the future will be xxL
Yes I'm stage 4 and have survived 2.5 years. I've had one recurrence and treatment got me close to remission. CA125 is normal.
Because there are not many on here does not really mean anything. Many long term survivors want to get on with their lives and forget about it. Also when I was first diagnosed in 2010 there used to only be one or two new posts a week. So recent years have seen a huge increase in use if these boards. People who were treated and survived pre 2009 probably don't post.
Wishing you many many healthy years xx
Arvind- I have seen a handful of stage 4 ladies swing by to share their positive stories. One I believe was 18 years remission after 1 early reoccurrence. It seems its all a mystery who has the successful outcomes and who doesn't. Just keep in mind- those in longer remissions tend not to post as often as they are off living their lives. Keep the faith! Its as possible for you as anybody else. That's what I keep trying to tell myself. 💗🙏🏻💗🙏🏻💗

When I was diagnosed, over 18 years ago, I was told there was nothing worse that stage 4. In more recent times I see Stages 4a and 4b mentioned. Anyway, I was diagnosed with Stage 4 in April 1199, also had massive pulmonary emboli and a Ca 125 of 9800. I had 3 chemo's prior to surgery and 6 more after (Taxol and Carbo). Went into remission after treatment and remain so. Just to give you HOPE!
I'm a stage 4. Diagnosed in March 2014 and have had a recurrence but doing really well with a great quality of life x
Hi Arvind-2
I was diagnosed stage 4 Dec 2013 had chemo and surgery which finished July 2014 and so far no recurrence
Like the others have said we tend to pop on the site every now and then but when off treatment tend to be making the most of the time and try put it to back of our minds
I have a new normal now enjoying time with family and friends just on way home after a week in Spain with my son his wife and two of my grandchildren
I have found for myself trying be as positive as possible, yes I have stage four advanced cancer but that doesent stop me living my life the best I can
Yes I have the odd blip but find the ladies on here are always there if you need a rant
So don't be put off by the small amount of replies they are just out there living their lives
Hello All, thank you everyone for posting replies. This is regarding my mother's ovarian CA. Her 3 cycles of Chemo are completed and cytoreductive surgery completed. Post recovery another 3 cycles of chemo will be done. Wanted to know if Avastin is now used as standard first line treatment or on recurrence ? Avastin in India is still very costly and unaffordable. Same for me, it's unaffordable.
Hello Arvind,
I’m having Avastin every 3 weeks in UK. I discovered that I can have it with my weekly Paclitaxel for £500 and can continue for as long as it does any good, probably for a lot more ££ once Paclitaxel course ends (there goes my new kitchen!).
Is there any 2nd opinion you can get for your Mum, to see if you can do a ‘deal’ for Avastin? In UK it isn’t available on NHS but 1st line allows the ‘Drug Fund’ to pay - but just 1st line.
I was diagnosed with 3c in 2016 but have been ‘palliative only’ since surgery due to seeding along bowel. I have metastases, the worst in my liver (originally only on the liver capsule, so not stage 4) and my CA125 was nearly 5,000 (4,9??) last December. I was turned down for trials and prognosis was just months. The Paclitaxel is 5th line and a last chance - but my CA125 is now 498, which is really good.
Sending hugs for you and your Mum 🤗 🤗
