Greetings! - I'm not quite new here, I have been reading your posts since I joined in Dec 2016. This is the first time I have the 'get up and go' to introduce myself.... briefly, I had my TAH (with appendix and re-sectioned bowel) on the 18th Jan 2017. Confirmed that I have clear cell ovarian cancer on the 30th Jan. Chemo cocktail (Taxol/Carbo) started 22nd Feb (at the moment, it seems it's 6 cycles, 3 weeks apart) - but as you lovely ladies know, nothing goes to plan, I have had a few setbacks....so I take each day as it comes. I'm very much still trying to get my head round this, all seems so surreal, until I look in the mirror and I see a very different version of myself.....your stories, motivation, courage etc. have really helped me so far, so a massive thank you for sharing! Keep up the good fight.x
Time to introduce myself....: Greetings! - I'm... - My Ovacome
Time to introduce myself....
Hi RueG! Yes, this place has helped many women to come to terms with such drastic changes in their lives. I myself have been through a TAH last July 2016, following which chemo and radiation sessions lasted till end of January. It was rather tough going, but this site has given me loads of courage and determination to keep looking ahead. I've learnt that women in general are positively stoic and can overcome many a hurdle with the right support and attitude.
So, hang on in there and fight this disease with all your inner strength and energy and you will come through just as most of us have! ( I've returned to my work 6wks ago and must confess that I never imagined I would!)
Regards
M'Anne
Hello and welcome- I know all of us would rather you hadn't had cause to join but as you say it's a wonderful source of experience, support, information and kindness!! Best wishes to you, Sxxx
Welcome to the site, I hope you will find support and inspiration on here. I know the feeling of looking in the mirror and seeing a stranger but this too will pass. It is a hard journey with ups and downs but you do get good days while on treatment and try to do something nice on those days, It is once thing which helped me. all the very best sent to you
Hi, and welcome to our club, the one that none of us really wanted to be a member of! The ladies and some men on here are really nice and supportive be and I'm sure they will welcome you soon.
The good news is the cocktail you are taking ius known as the gold standard. Some people sail through chemo with not too many side effects, others suffer quite badly, I was in the later group and kept having setbacks too. Try not to worry though, you will get to the end of the course, although taking longer than initially thought. Just keep remembering the story of the tortoiuse and the hare!
Good luck. Ann xx
