Hysterectomy and debulking
Hi ivster, if I remember rightly I had Just slight bleeding and very slight cramps for a couple of days. Hope this helps ❤xx Jane
Had bleeding for weeks afterwards. Finally stopped after I finished the bloodthinning injections.
Was told not to worry about it, though was also told it would only last two weeks.
Thanks💕
Hi,
I had blood loss for 2-3 weeks then it tailed off to a lighter pinkish-brown for another 3 weeks. I was told that it could last for 6 weeks after op.

Hi Ivster
I asked the surgeon about this and she said almost nothing....but to be sure I bought six packs of weapons grade products....but never needed them.
The operation is nowhere near as bad as I feared.
Good luck xxx
Hi, Ivster . I didn't have any bleeding right after my debulking, but I did start bleeding 10 weeks after and it scared the heck out of me! It was slight and dark and since it was a Friday when it started and my onc office closes at noon on Friday I had to wait till Monday! Bad weekend. No cramps but bleeding was steady but very light. The nurse said the bleeding was perfectly normal and it was my body sloughing off residual bloods from surgery. Sounded weird but she said to expect a few weeks before it goes away and that is exactly what happened. Be sure to let your doc know if you are worried.
Ivster I had very light bleeding and cramps six weeks after surgery, however give your CNs a call so she can let your surgeon know.
Hugs Ellsey xx
Yup Ivster, I had light pinkish bleeding on and off for weeks afterwards. I told my onc and he had no concerns. It eventually stopped at about the 8 week mark.
One thing I should say in case this happens to anyone else after surgery is that in the second week I had a sudden rush of bright red blood just before bedtime. It was hard not to freak out. I put a huge pad on and my hubby and I decided to keep calm and go to bed. We set the alarm for one hour to check if it stopped. If it was still going we would head off to the ER. But it did stop. We set our alarm for another hour. I got up to pee and passed a very large blood clot. After that, there was pretty much nothing. I told my onc what had happened and he didn't seem surprised. What they don't put in the handy "After surgery" guides, eh! (Oops, just revealed I'm a Canuck, eh)
P.s. My other beef with those hospital guides is the vague language when you are trying to decide if your symptoms are serious or normal, merit the panic, or don't. For instance, if your discharge has a "foul smell" it is concerning and should be brought to their attention. What the heck is a "foul smell" to them? I can tell you, my discharge after surgery didn't smell like roses! What was I supposed to say to the nurse, "Take a wiff of this dear. Does it smell foul?" I just had my hubby bury those pads in the garbage and hoped for the best. It all turned out.
Hello Ivster, I didn't have any bleeding afterwards but I guess it is quite likely as the information I was given was to bring sanitary towels with me. I remember going to buy them and being amazed how things had changed (I'm in my late sixties)! They didn't look much like towels to me, they seemed much too thin, and I was flummoxed as to which ones to buy. In the end I bought ones in the prettiest colour packet and ended up not needing them!
All the best! Helen
PS I didn't have any cramps either.
I have to say didnt have that experience, yes I was sore and ached but that was it.
Definitely, for a couple of weeks I think. I was told to expect it.
