Lovely ladies, can you tell me how long horrible tummy cramps last after debulking? It's Day 10 and the pain takes my breath away, particularly after eating. I gobble Buscopan and Panadol which don't really do much. Accept that my insides need time to settle but crikey the pain isn't nice ... And I have a VERY high pain threshold. Xxx

Post debulking
Hi Taprobane
I had debulking surgery last September, and like you, I experienced awful cramps, but take heart, they do go away! I think it took me about 2 weeks, so hopefully you're almost over the worst! I didn't really find any meds helped me, but some other ladies here might have some suggestions. It does take some time for everything to settle down after such major surgery, so hang on in there - it will get better!
Juliet
I'm 4 weeks post op. I found things began to improve after two weeks but I can still only eat little portions. Strangely if I eat too much I get a terrible cramp in my left shoulder too. So by week 4 cramps had mainly gone if I eat little and often. I've had to learn portion control. I hope you feel better soon xx
Hi, after my op, a few years ago now, I had the most awful cramps and going on the loo over and over. It was like giving birth. This went on for several weeks.
I went to my GP and she suggested probotics, twice a day if possible. I started taking Activia and within 4 days it was much much better, and I continued to take them since.
Give it a try. X
Thank you trix70, Gleedy and Juliet 55. Your replies made me feel less of a wuss. There are times when the cramps are like the ones I had after my c-sections .... Really not nice. Milk exacerbates the cramps, possibly because I reintroduced the stuff after a 5 year absence, so back to green tea. Thanks again lovely ones. God bless xxx
I'm 13 days post-op and today has been terrible for cramps! Definitely worse than labour pains, that's for sure. I've just tried a peppermint tea to try to soothe things a little.
I feel your pain, Taprobane. Literally 😄
And I feel yours! Perching on the loo helps a bit! Take care xxx
Sorry Hun, it's probably wind!, peppermint tea sorted me out and I was told in church or chapel, let it rattle! Take yourself off and don't be the lady you so obviously are,
It will pass, lots of love,
Carole xxx
I must have been one of the lucky ones as I was able to eat normally after the sips of water after surgery.I was starving and looking forward to my meals even if they were dreadful!!!!!
The only pain I remember having was the raw surgery pain when I got off a chair or in/out of bed.
It goes away and you forget just like childbirth.
Hope you feel better soon x
Thanks oh lucky one. I am waiting for it to go away. Xxx
It will go in time, it is very early days yet so it is okay to feel sore and crampy. Peppermint tea or peppermints if you can get them. Avoid gassy foods for the moment or any thing spicy.
Hi Taprobane
I would suggest getting other painkillers as paracetamol not working for you.
I had debulkment surgery in January and like you I have a very high pain threshold. I had a lot of extreme back pain for a month or so after the surgery. Turns out I had endometriosis that was scraped out during surgery. Every time I laid on my back, ate very much or got constipated it hurt because those activities put pressure on the area where the endometriosis was scraped away. Just knowing the specific reason helped a lot.

Thanks for the info. It isn't endometriosis. Indeed my cancer has turned out to be a bizarre one, a carcinosarcoma. Will know for certain when the slides etc are back from the Mayo Clinic. Need this like a hole in the head but hey, what will be will be. Xxx
