On Tuesday my scalp got really sore, and some hair fell out. I got the hairdresser to shave it down to a crew cut, now the short bits are falling. The house looks rather as though we have a moulting terrier, and I look like Dobby the House Elf.

Hair today, no hair tomorrow
Hi Rachael. Hardly Dobby the House Elf but you did make me smile, love your sense of humour. Just wanted to wish you well and hope the chemo is going ok.Kathy xx
HI Rachael, well you got to the point that we all get to. Unfortunately some treatments cause hair loss. I had bargained for this to happen so I got my crew cut and went and pick out a wig and then when I had enough I got the head shaved and a wig to keep my head covered. It is a huge step and very mixed feelings about it to be honest. But I felt while I couldnt control the Cancer, I could control my hair loss so that is what I did. You may not even be interested in wigs but its winter and there are some lovely hats out there for cover. I used even wear a soft hat in bed to keep my head warm. I wish you well whatever you have decided is best for you at the moment. I hope the treatment is okay apart from that side effect. Best wishes
Oh dear! I look pretty much the same as you, but my hair is now growing back after the end of chemo.
Like Suzuki says, have a look for some stylish hats to keep your head warm in the cold weather!
Hi Rachael,
Sore scalp - ouch, I remember it well. Coconut oil helped to ease mine a bit as well as moisturise the bonce!!
I did what Suzuki did and felt more in control for doing so. I had six wigs of various styles, long to very short but in the same colour along with a draw full of slouchy beanie hats.
There are some brilliant websites out there for headgear.

Hi Rachael, how I remember that look on me! I took photos too as I wanted to record my journey and our hair loss is a very powerful visual isn't it? Funnily enough I found it easier once the rest had actually come off! I expected the actual shedding to hurt but it doesn't thank goodness, the only discomfort was before the hair came out when my scalp was sore and tender. I wore a cap or wrapped light scarves around my head until I realised I was ok with being bald and luckily my head is a good shape! Never knew that before! Mind you the Summer sun helped me keep warm which isn't going to be an option now is it?
I rubbed my scalp in the shower to gently remove the last bits and suddenly you'll find that it's gone! Mind you there us nearly always a light covering of fluff which some ladies shave off. I didn't as I didn't want a blade to cut my head!
Take heart that we know what you're going through, it can be hard but also empowering. GI jane aka Rachael - learn to Rock your look xx
Take care

Hugs Rachael, I remember thinking that I looked like one of the fraggle Rock characters. Lol it does get better
Ugh, I remember the sore scalp, it was horrible
I found gently rubbing my scalp with a cold, wet washer helped. So did very soft scarves and hats as it stopped some of the hair movement that was causing pain.
...Hats also caught all the loose hair, which was great because it was worse than a shedding cat, haha.
Hi Rachael,
It's sad things, and not great experience but if your hair are falling down that means the chemo does its jobs. And let's stick to it. I was there as well, just last year, stage IIIc ovarian cancer. I've lost my hair, I was looking for headwear and then my "baby" Hairless Beauty was born. Had to wait for looking time and since February this year I am providing headwear for other Ladies who suffer hair loss. So good things from bad things 😉.
You can read my story and check my offer on hairlessbeauty.co.uk
If you are interested please email me first and I will send you a voucher for discount 😉.
Please don't worry about hairloss. It's temporary, they will grow back very soon.
BEST WISHES IN YOUR TREATMENT
Janetta, xx
