Rash with gemzar

Hi ladies hope your all doing ok... just a quick question as anybody had a rash with gemzar as i had my dose last friday and ive got bit rash on right thigh does not itch or anything but not clearing i will ask oncologist next week but wondered if anyone else had this new to me.. didnt get one with carbo/taxol love to you all xxxx

Hi Tracey I've gone a bit pimply on my back n AV read the literature they give u n a common side effect is as rash it's says to speak to gp but in my opinion you might as well speak to the wall gps n cancer/chemo don't mix ring your cns they should be able to help! I have had a sore scalp just like I had before my hair fell out with taxol you're not supposed to loose your hair with this regime I will be gutted if I do

No you dont lose your hair, I have had Gem twice, I never had a rash though. Since I had rt a few years back, I never use perfumed shower gel, I use Simple baby wash with calomile and it stops the itch. My chemist gave me a tip for rash the old cure of liquid parafin, it doesnt sting it calms and takes the dryness away.

yes, I had a bad rash on both arms and my lower legs, itched like mad, but as I was on holiday in Jordan, I had to use local farmacies who gave me anthistamines and cream to rub on, but my best way of dealing with it was to wrap myself in wet flannels, or if I had long soft trousers on, I poured cold water all over the parts below the knees, which was fine while sitting with my legs under the table while out at cafe's, and usually dried before we left lol. It only happened the once, but when I told my onc. on my return, and it had almost gone, he just put it down to a side effect, and let him know if it happened again, which it hasn't. so maybe it wont happen again with you!, I find most of my side effects only happen once, usually after first doses. well hope this is a one off for you, take care, hugs xxxx

Okay they tell you that you won't lose your hair but almost 60 percent of mine is gone. I had a bad rash on my chest after the first one one. It drove me slightly crazy. It got better pretty quick and no reoccurence after the first dose. I hope your's will heal as fast as mine did. I used a cortisol cream my doctor prescribed. Hope this helps. Sharon
