I was given provera to induce a period .i haven't had a period for around 8years been told I also have PCOS ..I had a transvaginal ultrasound the other month and they told me my womb lining was thicker then it should be .. My GP suspected this due to the lack of periods ..so I was given this provera ..I took 10mg for 10 days then told to stop then I should bleed ..it took a week after stopping for my period to start which was bought on by sex I may add sorry if TMI .
The period cramps while taking the provera was awful I also got cold like symptoms and an awful taste in my mouth not to mention insomnia ...I have not slept for nearly a month !
Now I am in the position of day 12 of bleeding and I am not sure what I need to do next and if I should contact my GP ..the last I spoke to her she just said take tablets you will bleed that's that ..well this period has been heavy light spotting discharge then stops in the daytime then I get it throughout the night then very light spotting during the day and so on .but it's never ending .two days ago I had no blood and only spotting discharge I thought fantastic it's all stopping but then that night it all came back again ! Today I am getting terrible cramps and every night from around 8pm I get hot flushes and extremely bloated ..I know it's a long time since I had a period and I imagine it all needs to come out but how long am I'm suppose to put up with this ..I'm absolutely drained and getting down due to the fact I haven't left my house since 14th April due to the bleeding the cramps headaches sickness or feeling sicky backache etc ..I suffered bad as a teenager and this is why I find it very hard to cope now even in adult life ..I'm 32 ..please any advice it's really horrible .
Oh I have a gyno appoint, met in June to check out the womb lining .

I'm sorry I can't be of any help to you. I would recommended you contact your GP though as soon as you can. Also perhaps look for a site that deals with PCOS as you will get support and advice there.
Yes as per the response from Trish I suggest you speak with your doctor as you need peace of mind that everything is ok. Don't sit and suffer and worry as you are now. Big hugs
I was put on Provera to thin my lining 2 months ago. I was told to take for three months. I have not had a period for 5 years. I have cramps every day and I also have had bleeding. I normally am a late owl 1-2 am, but the last month I haven’t slept at all. Very frustrating. I can lay down in the afternoon and sleep about 4 hours. I think my body just totally exhausts itself. 1 month left on the pills and then if it hasn’t helped I need robotic hysterectomy due to being full of scar tissue from my c section and having a 10x14 abdominal hernia patch.
Well I was given a script for three months. I noticed that I didn’t have a follow-up scheduled so I called the dr. they set an appointment for one month after I stop my provera April 1. I am hoping when the repeat ultra sound is done that my lining has thinned. I have had days of horrible cramping. Also side pain as if I was ovulating. I haven’t had a reg period for several years. I do not like hormones. My breast hurt and something that might vaguely upset me makes me sob terribly.
Having to possibly have a hysterectomy doesn’t scare me as much as that I had a previous c-section and also had to have an abdominal hernia repair surgery. I got this a few years after my c-section. I have a 10x14 abdominal mesh so I am full of scar tissue and adhesions. My OB tried to do an endometrial biopsy and d & c three years ago and couldn’t. My dr is saying the hysterectomy cannot be done the normal way, but will need to be done robotically and I may have to go to an out of town specialist. I am nervous and praying that this med has done what it was supposed to.
