Hi there. I'm sorry you are having such a hard time. Weight can always feel much more significant when so much else is going on in your life. Have you spoken to your GP about your depression? He might recommend some counciling. There are woman on this site who have lost their husbsnds and are going through chemo their stories are inspirational but they have all been down. Please feel free to express your feelings on this site we are all there for you. As for weight slimming world is a good idea and I'm sure the ladies will have loads of recommendations. Juicing is also good.

Best wishes

Trish

Hi judejude, you have been through quite a lot recently.  It must be very hard for you indeed.  I feel sometimes it is good to go and speak with a counsellor or see if there is a Cancer Support Centre in your hospital who will help you and guide you in the right direction.   I would agree that it is a good idea to speak about it to your gp.   You cant go through this alone.  Take it hour by hour and day by day.  You will have good times and not so good times.  You are probably low after surgery in any case, that does take a lot out of it.  I am sorry you lost your husband as well.   We are indeed here for you and can offer you support around your surgery.  Kind regards

Hello. I've put weight on this time on chemo as I have had steroids. I try to walk every day except when the side effects are worst. That is helping with low mood as well, just getting out of the house is better than staying in. I agree that you should try to find a counsellor, and also your GP may be able to refer you to a dietician to help with the weight gain. Just talking it through with someone can be motivating. My local Leisure Services also has a scheme to get healthier that the GP can refer to. It might be worth asking about that. They have art and craft and social groups as well as physical activity.

I found Slimming World helped me to lose the 'chemo weight' (3 stones!) steadily over a year whilst also enjoying the things I enjoy and sticking to the healthy eating suggestions from Penny Brohn. It was the first time I'd joined a group and I also got a lot from going each week both in terms of support, friendship and ideas. They also let me raise some awareness about OVCA there too! I think GPs can give a voucher in some circumstances to cover the first couple of months too! The other thing which was great for me was to join a daytime Zumba Gold group... It's much lower impact and very supportive and there's a lot to be said for dancing!! Good luck and best wishes Sx

Hi, all good advice from the ladies, it will do you good to go to a class and get out as much as you can.

I understand how you are depressed with the loss of your husband , mine died in January, it's a new life.  Keeping busy is helping me at the moment.

I hope things improve for you.
