Hi. Anyone been on avastin following chemo, I am to have 12 courses. My last scan showed no visible disease and I had no surgery Also did you experience any side effects with the drug?? I am still having small nose bleeds every morning. Have been told this will improve with time. Thanks

Oh yes to nosebleeds! No other probs at the moment though. You sound like you are unsure whether to take the Avastin...is it the worry about side effects? Lyndall x

Hi thanks for reply, it,s just reassuring to know there are others like myself, I think when chemo finishes you lose some confidence in yourself, valo x

I had almost two years of Avastin, Side effects would be nose bleeds in the morning which clear up fast, Also a mucky nose which can be sorted with Neil Med Rinses. You do get tired spells when you can do nothing but I got through it. Also a few aches but nothing as bad as on Carbo and Taxol, I wish you well and definitely it does work

I was very unlucky with Avastin and had spontaneous and severe nosebleeds. It was just one of those things but I had to be taken off it. It didn't affect my platelet count.

Hi

I'm on avastin at present. Aching joints and tiredness are the side effects for me, but still nothing as bad as chemo

Best wishes to you x

Hi. I had nose bleeds on avastin. I was on for about 18 months, and the bleeds stopped after about 4. I was doing pretty much everything I usually did but realised when I came off that I had more energy so I think it was making me tired. Lx

I have just finished my eighteenth and last session of Avastin. As the course went on my fatigue has gradually increased and a few months in I developed a cough and hoarse voice. Half way through I had some hypertension but that settled. More recently my skin has become a bit mank and my nails have been splitting . Hopefully these side effects will subside with time.

Having said that these side effects on the whole have not been too bad and I seem to have responde well to the treatment.  Would easily do it all again.
