I have started a petition to the HOC for all Cancer patients to receive the higher component of PIP without the current lengthy process. I feel that Cancer IS a special rule and should be treated as such.
Hope you will sign and share as far and wide as you can.
Fully support the petition but although have tried to sign twice now, it keeps saying I have not signed until I click on the link in your email, which I keep doing which then brings up the form again!
Finally got there! The email they refer to is the one they send you! Let's hope this gets to debate stage to bring about positive change for all cancer patients!
I've signed but as I am of pensionable age I am fortunately not really affected as income doesn't change. Outgoings do, such as having the heating on all day and nearly all night as I feel so cold. Never mind, Spring is on its way.
I remember those forms as Alan was granted Disability Living Allowance following a stroke nine years ago. Very long and laborious to complete and he couldn't read or write at the time. Goodness knows how someone who hasn't anyone to help them manages. I think PIP has replaced DLA which although paid at a higher rate, is more difficult to get.
I agree with Chaplin; the message to click on the link on the email is a little confusing and yet I was pre-warned by her post and still I hesitated. I think that message could be better worded. I have certainly seen similar messages before on other sites which are unambiguous, unlike this one.
That's brilliant I'll sign and share. I'm not up to date on benefits as I applied 5 years ago and got nowhere. Not really a problem for me as my partner's still working but we could have done with the blue badge, which they said I might have got if I'd had the benefits. I didn't get into town for 6 months but could have gone if I could have parked near where I wanted to go. But it only covered people who needed them for 3 years and of course I didn't and the docs wouldn't sign to say I needed one as they said I'd get better.
This has been a short, sharp shock for me Lesley. I can't believe that Cancer is not given priority given the myriad of complications. I was so naive when first diagnosed, thinking that my 2065 CLA marker just meant whipping out the bits and a round of chemo and I'd be as right as rain. I had no clue about staging or cell types or any of that. Now I can't work and John is limited as he is taking care of me. It's a nightmare for so many.
The government paying millions for ATOS and other such Quangos to hit targets and get very sick people thinking about work when they need to remain positive (Cancer + negativity = killer) is atrocious.
Good cause. We're ok financially right now but if I lose my job or have to go off on extended sick leave again for treatment and lose or have my salary reduced, we're going to be in trouble, seeing as I'm the breadwinner in the family.
