Dealing with nausea

I've been through this before as I'm on 3rd line chemo but would find suggestions helpful. I have medication for the first few days but don't want to take more than I have to. I have the Ricola herbal sweets, which help a lot but are hard to find.

Try a health food shop for the sweets? Other suggestion are extra strong mints or Foxes Glacier mints. Eat smaller meals ie four a day instead of three a day. I found Bovril and crackers good and also Carrs water biscuits. Just some ideas,

sevind advice re crackers ,they are all I can manage on bad nausea days . Do you find yours has a cycle ?, mine was bad for first three days on week 1 but settled after that . I think it's important to take the anti nausea mess preventively. Talk to your team re medications . I was told by mine there are so many options now that no one should suffer badly . They are going to give me a new medication next cycle that is suppose to be very good, will let you know how I get on . Hope you feel better soon , spoil yourself for distraction and hopefully it will pass off soon .

Hi Lesley,

I find some fresh ginger in a cup of warm water helps me. I just sip it throughout the day.

Wishing you every success with your treatment x

Nairns ( or similar) oatmeal biscuits, plain or ginger, miso soup (comes in packets), thin soup - watercress is brilliant.....hopefully it will be just a few days in a cycle and not for the whole time.

Better already thanks and I'm stocking up for next time. Ice lollies sound like a good tip. The effect of ondansetron was what's helped and that affects the vagus if I remember right. I lost nearly 3 kilos though so I definitely need to get it sorted. I found the only thing I wanted to 'eat' was the liquid bit of home made soup with some rice noodles. Luckily I have a partner who can make it for me. I went on chemo a week earlier than planned cos there didn't seem any point waiting once CA125 was over 1000 so they let me start the same day I saw the doc. But perhaps more planning would have been better.

Hello, don't know where you are from and I am learning that health care is very different in many areas of the world, here in the US when I had my chemo, the oc nurse would give me anti-nausea med Moung other thing before starting the chemo mess, tax and carbo. For the next 3 day I took anti-nausea pills and that helped. Only 1 time did I feel yucky😰 and I had chemo every week for 6 months. Only missed I week cause my white blood count was very low.

I'm in the UK yes I took the meds but not enough. I'm on a different regime this time (2nd recurrence) and was given 1 to 2 four times a day but took 1. I'll ask for different drugs next time or just increase the dose. But my nausea continues or recurs at times after the 3 days and I don't want to be popping pills if an ice lolly or a cracker or some ginger will do the trick.
