Anyone know if a cold cap is likely to work on this regime???

I have been on the three weekly before without the cold cap treatment and I lost all my hair.

Not sure if it's worth the pain!!?????

Hi,

I used the cold cap on this regime and kept most of my hair, it is very uncomfortable for the first 10 minutes, if you can stand that you get used to it, I used to have a couple of heat pads supplied by the unit, to keep me warm, my hair went thin but soon thickened back up after treatment, I still lost my eyebrows and lashes though :( I wish you well with your treatment,

Take Care

I've used the cold cap all the way through and have kept my hair. It's very thin on top and I've lost my eyebrows and lashes and hair everywhere else!! The first 10 minutes are uncomfortable but I take paracetamol just before it goes on then I'm given heat pads and a blanket to keep warm. Thick socks help as well!!!

Hi I can millisecond these, had three weekly treatment and used cold cap for second Lind treatment. My hair thinned slightly in one small patch which is possible where the cap made poor contact once. You must use loads of conditioner on your hair before the cap is put on, that way you make good contact all over. The first ten mins are painful but I think worth it. I have just completed third line carbon caylix and awaiting scan in two weeks to see final result. Fingers crossed. I wish you every success in what ever decision you take. Just remember it's the outcome that counts and we are all very beautiful strong women anyway.

Meant to say I can second these comments, stupid predictive text and chemo brain don't go well together !!!

Hello. I had my hair cut short to ensure a better contact with the cold cap and I have kept my hair absolutely fine with just a few hairs coming out each time I wash it. Like you when I had the big dose in one go I lost most of my hair. Use the cold cap you'll be glad you did. Lovis x

Just to add to the other ladies comments I also kept my hair using cold cap on weekly taxol. Important to keep it on for an hour after end of infusion though so on taxol only days adds to time but worth it I thought. Make sure you get a good tight fit with the cap. Wear a hairband to protect your forehead. It's worth a try anyway! Madeline x

I'm about to start the same regime and had exactly the same question so thanks for asking it! I found the hair loss thing really traumatic first time round so have decided to give this a go and although the nurse specialist has warned that it's very uncomfortable the responses from others here are encouraging. I hope you do well with the treatment - and the cap!
