Did you ask to get a copy?.......with us they asked if we did and said some people don't want it. Just confirm to them that you want a copy of everything connected to you.

Thank you very much for your reply I shall request copies in future as whether you like it or not you need to absorb the information at some point. I am fairly new to this site and am very sorry but I notice that you lost your wife.

My hospital trust has an opt in policy - in other words you have to sign a form, for each clinic eg one for oncology, one for gynecology etc but once signed get copies of all clinic letters, they will not send them if not done.

I don't remember being asked, but routinely my hospital copies me into the letter sent to the GP and I have found having them really useful in tracking back.

You come to understand things better and differently the longer you're acquainted with this horrible disease!

I'd definitely request them. You don't need to study them until you feel like it.

The only letter I had from my cons was to tell me my CA125 was raised and she was arranging for me to have a CT scan. I received this letter a few days after I had actyuaslly had the CT s can lol. Cons don't normally write to their patients following consultations, they do however write to your GP. Ann xo

I get them. I didn't for a while as I'd said I didn't want them sent when I was in hospital as I had everyone around with the i nformation but while I was treated as an outpatient I got that changed - they just gave me a form and I get a copy of the letter that they send to my GP. I find it very useful.

Yes, absolutely ... I always try to get copies of all my scans and tests and referral letters. So often I go to my appointments and the doc I see doesnt seem able to locate scan reports etc. so I have them to hand to show them!! It is also great to have copies of them should you wish to ever see a complementary therapist in the future... so they can see where you are at!
