Abdominal bloating

Hi, just wondering if the bloated abdomen is ascites and waiting to get in for appointment for my gp. Been up most of night and though not painful discomfort and nausea and total lack of appetite makes me feel so ill on top of the ache from my swollen buttocks! Not a nice place to be! Bloody disease! Hoping I get in today. Carole xx

Thanks Trix, just back from gp and liver swollen so given me steroids to take and different anti sickness so heres hoping. Trying to get me an appt for oncologist at weston park asap. Says anti sickness might make you drowsy, heres hoping xx

Hi Charlee

It can be ascites. It's hard for a GP to know unless there is a lot of fluid there. Yes, it's a horrid disease but maybe the symptoms aren't what you think. (Let's hope.) I've read your posts and can see you've been through the mill and back. I take 3 Cyclizine a day to control nausea and it does affect me by making me sleepy but I seem to handle it better as time's gone on. I feel it's better for me to have them. At least I can look forward to food. Maybe you could ring your Oncologists's secretary to arrange an appointment?

H I Tina 1 got 3 cyclizine too so heres hoping? My onc is only at weston Park Monday and Thursday for clinic so hoping for then! Do they cause constipatioin as ive only got normal this week? May have to take laxative or lectluse if so. Hopefully better news soon. This is the first time in years ive felt this bad! My grandson is due any day now so got to get fit. Love Carole x

Hi there ...

I'm not sure if they do. In any event, I take a Movicol drink in the morning and 2 Bicacodyl at night though this is because my bowel doesn't really work anyway without help. This regime helps me live as normally as I can and it's helped tremendously. It's lovely you'll be seeing the little one soon. And, yes, hopefully better news for you. Xx

When I suspected I had ascites ..I had exactly the same symptoms as you! I called my CNS and had an ultrasound the same day and was drained the day after. Much faster than going to your GP. Maybe worth calling your CNS so you can rule out or confirm the ascites.

Hope you feel better soon.

Just had call from my gp who is concerned blood tests on liver function really bad and thinks I may have blocked bile duct and is now trying to contact my onc to suggest admission to hospital for urgent ct and possibly stent fitted. By now I will be glad to get it sorted as dry heaving and feel ill. So grateful to my gp as hes getting the ball moving! Anyone had this done, I have multple mets in liver? Thanks, Carole

Hi Charleee, I've just spent a couple of days in hospital last week due to a really swollen stomach which I believed was fluid. After a ct scan and blood tests it confirmed that the swelling was due to a really enlarged liver. The scan confirmed blocked bile duct & also something blocked on my left kidney hence liver & kidney blood tests. I had OC which has spread to liver & several lymph nodes in pelvis. My oncologist has decided not to go the stent route at the moment as my blood tests were relatively stable while I was in hospital. I assume I will have this once things get worse. Just trying to keep as well as possible & get on with life.

I remember one of my GPs talking about bloating being caused by 1 of the 5 Fs: fluid, fat, faeces, foetus and flatulence
