I don't know much, but there are some drugs that can help. Eating good food as often as you can is another thing, high calorie drinks help some. Also a special mattress which you should be able to borrow thru' your local gp surgery if your cachexia is becoming severe. There should be either a nurse or a doctor with special experience close to you, maybe via your cancer centre or the local hospice. I hope you can find some professional suggestions. My thoughts are with you. Best, Vx
Hi, you need to eat a balanced but high protein diet. Cut out as much sugar as you can - use raw honey instead. No fizzy drinks. Drink green tea and also fresh lemon juice - squeeze about a quater of a lemon into a glass of water - very thirst quenching and it alkalizes your body which promotes healing. Eat apples. Take vitamens supplements. What you eat is very important, lots of cancer patients die of malnutrion rather than cancer. I have also cut out anything with wheat in it - not easy to do, but my digestive system is much happier. I found a lot of help in a book called Beating Cancer with Nutrition by Patrick Quillin. You can get it on Amazon.
I too was suffering from cachexia but have managed to stabilise my weight. I found eating smaller portions of food throughout the day better than struggling to eat 3 normal sized meals. I also supplemented this with high calorie drinks like ensure or fortisip drinks which are available on prescription. Complan also do similar drinks/soups available at Boots, supermarket etc.
Another helpful aid would be to download and read the "eating well when you have cancer" booklet at the following link

I hope you feel better soon

I agree with blue 100 try eating little and often, it is easier on the tummy and eat plenty protein like chicken, and eggs and fish and also vegetables. If you have a juicer juice with green apples, spinach cucumber kiwis at least this way you will be getting nutrition or even a smoothie from berries. You can also add ginger if you are not on blood thinning meds to either. If you are really finding it difficult to eat, speak to your oncology nurse who will get a dietician to see you or your gp.
