I think the vsymptoms can be ASD you've said, not always the same as before. If your CA125 was raised prtioir to diagnosis this can be used for reoccurrence tyoo I believe. I haven't had reoccurrence yet as only one year down line from diagnosis and I hope I won't for as long time. I a m stage 3b. Ann

I know that feeling well. My chemo finished in December and my legs and hips still ache, especially if I stand in one spot for any length of time.

Everyone seems to be differant, so there are no hard and fast guidelines....in Sandras case, she may notice some niggles in the liver region, she may notice a lump in her groin, her neck or her shoulder but never bloating or swellings. Invariably the oncologist will do a CA125 test and/or a scan to confirm or not if a recurrence is evident but he needs to know your concerns. I would ask for your next clinic to be brought forward to chat about it. Xx paul

For Christina the only thing she ever had with her recurrences was a pain in and around her stomach. Then each time a CA125 test confirmed it, she was lucky, if thats the right word, that her CA125 always reflected positive or negative news.

As Paul said maybe get your appt brought forward or if you dont have one....i am sure they would see you. It is also very possible that because you only finished 1st line (i presume) chemo 5 weeks ago, that your body is just playing 'catch up' and in a few weeks your aches etc will ease or go completely. Good Luck anyway. Laurence.

Thank you Laurence ,I think you are right it is my body playing catch up ,just a bit in limbo at the moment and not know what to expect and not having an oncologist or a hospital ,I am in a fine pickle :) xxx Ann

My recurrence was predicted by a rising CA125 level. It went up slowly but steadily after nearly 2 years of having been around 5/6 and then the rate of increase speeded up (after sveral months of the slow rise) and I had a CT scan. I also had a lump over my sternum but that is very rare. I've been treated now (more chemo) and I'm fine though still on 3 weekly avastin.

From my own experience I have never had any physical symptoms when a recurrence was starting. Maybe a slight belly twinge now and then. It was always noted with a rising CA 125 and then followed up with CT or PET Scan to make the confirmation. I agree with the others who have already responded. Your symptoms may be post chemo related and also bring these concerns to your physcian's attention.

Since everyday I always seem to be feel different I began a "symptom journal". It made me better able to recall events that my body experienced and convey these to the physician.

Hope this helps.

Best of luck.

Hi,

As others have said, your symptoms could be because you have so recently finished chemo, & your body is still recovering from that, but if you are concerned, then maybe it would be worth getting checked?

Signs of a recurrence do seem to vary. My first recurrence was diagnosed after the surgeon who was caring for me at the time asked for a scan when he was concerned about a blood test result. I felt well apart from feeling a little tired & having a bit of mild backache sometimes, & hadn't suspected anything. 18 months later, I asked to be checked because I had similar feelings. I was told there was no concern about my blood test , but because I felt convinced there was a problem, a scan was ordered, & it showed another recurrence. Third time, nothing was suspected, I felt fine. But it was seen on a planned check scan.

Hoping all is well

Di

Hello. I never had any signs of reoccurrence whatsoever, but my CA125 went up from 63 (the lowest) to 6600 in a matter of months. I was feeling fine, no swelling, pain, absolutely nothing. Had to start 2nd line and thankfully the CA125 is down in the 400's and am on 3 weekly Avastin. Had my CT scan last Thursday with results this week.

If you can bring forward your appointment with the oncologist and ask for CA125 bloods and maybe a scan. This will show any signs of recurrence.

Good luck. Take care. Love Irene xx

Thank you to all of you ,your advice and knowledge is priceless and much appreciated xxxxxAnn

Hi there, my first recurrence was a pain in my bum, funny but not funny, my 125s were okay the pain was severe and I couldnt sit down. Eventually referred by long suffering gp to rheumatologist as the figures didnt add up enough for ct scan and he ordered mri which showed cancer back. My case could be different in that, it was impossible to remove all ovary first day due to it being tied up by blood vessels and nerves. Further recurrences discovered by a watchful and caring oncologist who will give me ct scan regularly. Am currently on Avastin and having scan on Thurs with Avastin as desert. I will live to regret doing both together but it saves a second visit. I am having heebie jeevies as will have to wait until oncologist returns from hols in August for result.
