Possible OC- Have a concern...

Hi ladies,

Thank you for sharing your experiences. I am 39, and had a hysterectomy abt 6 years ago, but my ovaries remained. I just had an ultrasound and some blood work drawn on Friday. I am currently waiting the results and must admit- its difficult. I have been experiencing some of the same symptoms mentioned- hardening and rounding of the abdomen, only able to eat abt half or less of what I normally eat and must relieve myself almost immediately. According to the doctor, Ive actually lost a little (not according to the way my pants are fitting) My original complaint was fatigue (complete exhaustion) as i have experienced vitamin deficiencies before and thought it was a repeat occurrence. My concern is that Ive recently begun to experience some spotting. Has anyone experienced this?

Good morning to you .. And welcome. You're obviously worried enough to come here to ask your question. The key really is whether these symptoms persist. I'd suggest going to Ovacome's own symptom checker and input your symptoms. This tool allows you to track your symptoms over time and then go back to see your doctor with a printout of the results. Although this is a difficult disease, its symptoms aren't well known to GPs and to women in general. An average GP will only see one case every five years so it's likely you haven't Ovarian (or its friend Primary Peritoneal). It's important that women get an early diagnosis. My hope is that you begin to feel a little better soon.

You're with friends here. Take care .. Love Tina x x

Echoing what T says above ... You need to live the spirit of that handle you have created but, at the same time, be firm and persistent with the GP. Do use the tracker, it puts doc in position where they can not say they were unaware... Also get y our message clear: you want a ca125 test right away. If there is a spike on that then they will arrange an ultrasound ... That's the path. And once on it, you are far better off. That is assuming it is OC and it is actually highly unlikely ... Target peace of mind first.

Love

Sorry you're having this worry but you will get lots of support here. Just wanted to add that you might find some more info on ovacome.org.uk if you haven't already found that. There is a section called resources where you will find lots of fact sheets. There is also a helpline number which is staffed by nurses, Mon to Fri, 10 - 5. I hope you will find the BEAT symptom tracker and other info will clarify things for you

All the best

Love Wendy xx
