Dear All,

You will remember that at the beginning of the year the Dept. of Health piloted a programme of ovarian cancer symptoms awareness which focussed on the principle symptom of 'Bloating' This was part of its early detection programme - Be Clear On Cancer.

For a long time Ovacome alongside other charities had championed that ovarian cancer should be included in the Be clear campaigns and we were delighted that so many Ovacome members were involved in the regional pilots.

We are delighted to announce that Ovarian has again been selected, this time for a Regional awareness programme. The regions to be covered are the North West and Borders. The project will include television advertising, and again, Ovacome will be engaged with the DH to ensure that your voices are heard, your experiences making a difference!

If you live in the North West or borders regions, please do get in touch as we expect a significant amount of local activity for the end 2013/early 2014, and we wish to ensure that local women are included as much as possible.

Hi Louise, this again looks as if it is for anyone other than we Scots - I live in Aberdeenshire by the way. I am still waiting on a way forward with statistics etc from you to tackle the Health Secretary in Scotland. Can I get started on a Scottish Advertising Campaign for OC awareness in March? I have button holed the MP for Banff & Buchan, Eilidh Whiteford re the APPWG on the 30th so she better attend, I am expecting loads of feedback on the discussions on the devolved nations. One thing that has been said is that it needs to be a catchy advert, i.e. like the one for bowel cancer that was on the TV a short time ago.

Like Sharon, I am more than willing to tell my story - 5 months in the diagnosis, 3rd line chemo etc etc.

Joanna
