Cancer drugs and chemotherapy

in July my doctor call and told me my results come back and the cyst and my ovaries had cancer.

I was shock. 37 years with cancer. No family history of ovarian cancer.

After months of research, surgery and scans I started chemotherapy in October. Complex type of cancer, they said.

12 cycles. 8 to go.

I hate them. Every time I go to the hospital I want to scream and cry. Folfox, my drug, is my worst enemy. I’m a zombie for days.

Maybe is just me, I don’t know.

just counting days. I want this to finish.

I am so sorry. This is a shit sandwich. I am in my 9th year only 1 year in remission. It's terrible that you are so youngFind support groups I am on the same chemo not a walk in the park. The goodness is there are lots more options now. Best of luck

Sorry you’ve had this shock. This group is so helpful and I’m sure you’ll get lots of support from the wonderful women in this group. Just ask anything! I’m sure you’ll get lots of helpful and sincere answers. I had no family history or ‘reason’ to get ovarian cancer and sometimes it’s just totally random. I know that doesn’t help but it helped me when someone said ‘instead of asking Why Me, ask Why Not Me?’. It’s just the bad luck of the draw, I’m afraid. Having said that, it sounds as if your medical team are on the case quickly and remember that if the chemo is making you feel rotten, it will also be blitzing those cancer cells. I sincerely hope so. You’re heading to the half way mark with your chemo….you’ll get there. Stay strong and ask for any help you need. The Ovacome team on 0800 008 7054 will offer expert support (Mon-Fri - office hours) if you need any more expert advice. Good luck!

PS there is hope for many of us. I was 52 when I was diagnosed and I’m now 73……and enjoying the ‘life after’.

I hope it could be easier. Sometimes I think I will prefer to be hit by a car than do chemotherapy. I asked already if I could quiet it. I just want my life back

Gosh Esole, your words resonated with me as I described my diagnosis in 2011 (65 at the time and now 77) as "being hit by a high speed train, splattered to the front not knowing when it would slow down". When it does slow down, I felt I was in a very different place...and, I'm saying this very gently, that I realised I could not go back.

I don't want to pretend I speak for many of us on this site, but I think I have listened to many of us feeling we cannot 'go back' - just slowly, gently and with kindness to ourslves, build a new life that now has this horrid, most unwanted and unplanned, life changing and life threatening experience in it.

I'd back wendydee's guidance of trying Ovacome's Support team and all the resources of their webinars, information sheets, Support Groups etc. I also love wendydee's "enjoy the life after"!! Warm wishes.
