Recurrence with normal CA125

Just wondering if anyone experienced a recurrence with a normal CA125 when they had a highly elevated figure at diagnose. I’m high grade serous and facing a recurrence with CA125 of 18. It was 1670 at diagnosis.

Dollie I am in 1st reoccurrence and my ca125 has never risen above 17 since finishing original treatment, my ca125 was 790 at dx. My oncologist said it’s not a reliable marker for me anymore.

Thanks Ellsey,

That’s interesting that your marker is still within normal range too. Thank you for taking the time to reply and I wish you all the very best . D

The CA125 is quite an inconclusive marker. I was diagnosed with a normal level. Have you asked for s HE4 test too?

Has recurrence been confirmed with a scan?

Hello Dollie22,

Did you have any other symptoms after ca 125 rose to 18 with a recurrence??

Hi amolngp,

The rise in CA125 was really the only symptom. My side was picking at me a bit and that might have been related to irritation of ribs from tumour on liver the doc said but I was in good health to be honest. I was working full time. I had surgery and HIPEC last November and I’ve just finished 6 sessions of chemo again . Will be on avastin as maintenance. I’m doing well.

Hope you are well? d

Thanks for the reply. Hope you remain NED forever.

My wife is in remission from 3C that was diagnosed in Jan-2017. The Oncologist treated by giving 3 sessions of neoadjuvant chemotherapy. After that complete debulking followed by 3 sessions of chemotherapy that was completed in July 2017.

Her CA 125 has been below 10 except last year when it rose the 18. The Onc. prescribed Tamoxifen for 2 months because of which the CA 125 again went below 10. She is having checkup of CA 125 alongwith Ultrasound every 3 months.

Now this month CA 125 again rose to 18. But the Oncologist has said to return after one month with another CA 125 result. Hence, I am worried and anxious a lot. (She is not that worried, Thank God). That is why i just requested your status. My wife is also not having any symptoms of recurrence.

Thanks and regards.

Hopefully you’re wife is not experiencing a recurrence. I know the waiting for blood tests is tough. I wish you and your wife all the very best and I hope she remains disease free for ever too. Kind regards, D
